Development, controls and testing

MTU is a preferred partner for commercial and military engine programs worldwide. The company owes its leading position to its superior technological expertise in the fields of compressors, turbines and control systems.

The engineering and development area ensures the excellent quality of our products – in close cooperation with our partners. The specialists in engineering are working on new programs, such as the advanced turbofan (PW810), the geared turbofan™ (GTF)* for Bombardier C Series aircraft and the Mitsubishi Regional Jet, the T408 helicopter engine and the engine to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

MTU is involved in a wide range of challenging technology projects, which include the development of fuel-thrifty and low-emission engine concepts, innovative compressors, turbines and control systems, the optimization of aerodynamics, structural mechanics and thermal management as well as the optimization of development processes and test methods. Other fields of activity are materials engineering, manufacturing and repair engineering and metrology.

Furthermore, MTU's competences cover the entire range of engine validation and certification. The tasks of the testing and control systems areas run the whole gamut from hardware, software and system development through to system validation. Employees in the testing area perform complete engine test runs and also almost all qualification tests at component, assembly, accessory and system level.

In engineering and testing, projects are conducted by multidisciplinary teams and in an international environment. For these teams we need experienced specialists with excellent technical knowledge who help us strengthen our position as technology leader.
