MTU for work-placement students
At MTU you can get a taste of real life and define your professional goals at the same time. We offer numerous assignment possibilities especially in technological fields of expertise. You can assume a full-time job during the semester holidays, but likewise you are welcome to work part-time during the semester. You must be a registered student in order to be considered for a work-study job.
Holiday jobs are offered to students at school who are eighteen years of age or older. You can choose your starting date on a flexible basis, but you must be willing to work for at least four weeks. Shift work is possible for manufacturing placements depending on the area in which you work.
Student job pools and Assignments
The complete application folders are placed in a pool for future openings. This system increases your chances of being placed in an student job position. We will contact you and speak with you concerning possible assignments if your application attracts the interest of a department. If you have special areas of interest, please mention them in your letter of application.
Application and Terms of Employment / Application Process
Ideally you should apply about four to five months before your desired starting date using our online application form. Frequently, however, an application made as late as four weeks before the starting date may still be considered, because employment for students in some departments is planned on a short-term basis. Send us your complete application with
- a letter of application
- a curriculum vitae
- a diploma or training certificate
- if applicable, internship testimonials and university transcripts
using the online application form in the placement service "Jobbörse" at "online bewerben". If you do not have the possibility to scan in your transcripts, you can send us a preliminary overview of your marks as a Word attachment.
Status of the application
You will receive an email confirming that your application has been received! As a rule, the processing of a non-electronic application takes longer than the processing of an online application. Your application will remain active in our system until you receive a notice of rejection from MTU. Moreover, we will inform you if there is any change in the status of your application.

The "Careers Club" - a program to promote opportunities for students
The Careers Club is a program that promotes students' careers by offering membership to those who have distinguished themselves through outstanding performance during their time as interns or work-placement students at MTU. As a member you will receive current MTU information, invitations to workshops for the advancement of professional as well as personal goals, and you will always be a step ahead of others when applying for further internships (including study abroad), work-study jobs, Diploma thesis and dissertation topics as well as permanent employment.
