UN Global Compact
MTU is a participant of the United Nations Global Compact. The strategic policy initiative was launched in 2000 by then Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan to find cooperative solutions to the social, ecological and economic challenges of globalization. The objective was to build a sustainable and inclusive global economy to ensure that all the world's people share the benefits of globalization. To this aim, companies, non-governmental organizations, political groups and academia actively work together in a network that is based on voluntary commitment to corporate responsibility.
Responsibility in the MTU Principles
By participating in the initiative, MTU has officially committed itself to observing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact at its worldwide operations. The leadership platform aims to find ways to align business operations and strategies with accepted principles in the areas of environment, human rights, labor, and anti-corruption. MTU is aware of its responsibility vis-à-vis the environment and the society and for incorporating the principles of sustainability into its businesses. This is why MTU has made this responsibility an integral part of its mission statement as one the five key values in the MTU Principles.
MTU will submit annual reports on the progress it makes in applying the principles of the UN Global Compact in its corporate policies, practices and activities.
