Chromic acid anodizing
Chromic acid anodizing by the Bengough-Stuart method is particularly suitable for components from which the electrolyte cannot be completely removed, i.e. components with roller weld seams, overlaps and riveted joints. Contrary to sulphuric acid, chromic acid residues left on the surfaces do not cause corrosion. Bengough anodized coatings cannot be died. Furthermore, they cannot be used on aluminum components with an alloying element content of more than 7.5%.
