Electro-discharge machining (EDM)

The materials used for turbine components are high-temperature resistant and tough. Mechanical machining is difficult if not impossible. An alternative method to machine such components is EDM which serves to produce simple geometries or cavities, e.g. sealing slots in turbine vanes.
