Flame spraying

Flame spraying is used to deposit coatings on the surfaces of metallic and non-metallic components. In the process, the coating material - in the form of wire or powder - is melted using an acetylene/oxygen, propane/ oxygen or hydrogen/ oxygen flame and then sprayed onto the component surface which has been prepared by degreasing and Al oxide blasting. Flame spraying is a well-proven coating process used in engine manufacture to apply sealing coatings, dimensional correction coatings and wear-resistant coatings.
