Glass bead peening
Glass bead peening increases the fatigue strength of the component surface and reduces the surface roughness (caused by steel shot peening). In the case of components with paints with inorganic binders glass bead peening serves to improve the corrosion protection (by compacting the aluminum pigments). In the process the components are also cleaned and residual compressive stresses are produced. The glass beads are accelerated by means of compressed air and directed onto the component surfaces through nozzles.
