Pollutants

Aero engines - just like any other combustion engine - emit pollutants. The combustion of kerosene in the engine produces nitrogen oxides (NOx), unburned hydrocarbons (UHC), carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Pollutant emissions can be reduced by the use low-emission combustion chambers, by increasing component efficiencies and the thermal efficiency and by optimizing the propulsion efficiency through new propulsion concepts.
