(at 800 - 1230°C)Precipitation hardening improves the hardness and stress-rupture strength of titanium materials, precipitation-hardenable high-temperature steels as well as nickel and cobalt alloys. The process consists of a solution heat treatment followed by aging during which the constituents of the structure form a solid solution (mixed crystal) that is frozen during rapid cooling. The hardness increase is caused by the aging cycle.
