Radial-flow machine

The flow direction is predominantly radial. Radial-flow machines feature centrifugal stages (flow from inside to outside) and centripetal stages (flow from outside to inside). With a view to ensuring the necessary energy transfer the centrifugal principle is used in the compressor and the centripetal principle in the turbine.
