Single-crystal turbine blades
Single-crystal turbine blades have been developed for use in the high-temperature environment of advanced aero engines. Cooling is a critical operation in the production of blades as it may cause deterioration of the material. With single-crystal blades the cooling process is controlled such that a single crystal is produced.
