Thermal efficiency

The thermal or internal efficiency of an aero engine is the ratio between the amount of heat converted into work and the total amount of heat supplied. The thermal efficiency is a measure for the quality of an engine. It depends, among other factors, on the pressure ratio, the ambient temperature, the turbine inlet temperature, the combustion efficiency, the flight velocity and flight altitude.
