Brush Seals

Brush seals are contacting seals. Their centerpiece is a highly flexible seal pack that consists of thousands of wires or fiber bristles that continuously adapt to the moving surface. Brush seals can be used in static and dynamic applications.

Advantages of MTU brush seals are their compact design, high reliability and long service life and the low leakage rate up to 80% less than labyrinth seals. What makes MTU brush seals so special is the wire looping and clamping process used in their manufacture to virtually preclude the risk of shedding seal wires.
