Water stripping

Water stripping is a process used to remove thermal coatings from engine components in nickel, titanium and steel alloys. The process employs a pressure of up to 3,800 bar. The water is carried to the component at high speed through a robot-guided rotating working head. There, the coating material is removed through the kinetic energy of the impinging water jet.

To reliably produce accurate results, the process should to a large degree be controllable and reproducible. For the purpose, process parameters should be set accurately to ensure complete removal of the coating material without damaging the parent material underneath.
