Vibration analysis & trim balance

Vibration analysis & trim balance

Vibration analysis is required to verify and troubleshoot the vibration behavior of gas turbines. Trim balancing is carried out to reduce the vibration amplitudes of gas turbine shafts.

MTU Aero Power Solutions provides state-of-the art on-site vibration analysis methods, monitoring systems, and sensors as well as troubleshooting approaches for engine-related problems.

Customer benefits

  • Real-time vibration analysis by multi-channel (up to 16) machinery data acquisition
  • Parallel raw data reading from vibration monitoring system installed on site
  • Analysis of vibration spectrum to verify the origin of measured vibrations
  • Trim balancing of gas turbine rotors to reduce vibration amplitudes and therefore increase the reliability and service life of internal and external engine components (e.g. bearings, tubing, Variable Guide Vanes actuation components)
  • Trim balancing may be required after on-site repairs affecting the rotor systems, such as blade replacements or module replacements.
