Line replaceable units
Apart from engine component repairs, engine module maintenance and engine teardown MTU Maintenance’s service portfolio also includes full support for LRUs and accessories. Line replaceable units (LRU) and accessories include parts that although not directly forming part of the core engine are definitely necessary to sustain its operation, such as starters, fuel and hydraulic pumps, actuators, sensors, valves and tubing.
LRU and accessory management is an integral part of the Total Part Care (TPC®) program, MTU Maintenance’s all-round carefree service package. Customers can choose from various service levels that include a wide range of activities, from individual maintenance and repair jobs right through to comprehensive LRU management and support solutions. Thus customers benefit from tailor-made – and hence optimum – LRU and accessory service packages that suit their specific needs.
Over the past few years MTU Maintenance has considerably expanded its service offerings in this field. The company has developed complete maintenance solutions that are not limited to accessory repairs, but also include overall support services for all LRUs and accessories between scheduled engine shop visits.
In contrast to many other maintenance service providers, MTU Maintenance does not source out the repair of these components to third parties, but performs the work in-house. In addition, the company takes care of all logistical aspects, which helps reduce turnaround times to a minimum. The high level of flexibility and the immediate availability of MTU Maintenance’s mobile repair teams in AOG (aircraft on ground) situations are further advantages, when it comes to optimum LRU and accessory support. Another forte is the company’s “One face to the customer” approach: each customer has one specific point of contact to take care of all of its service needs.
All activities associated with LRU management are pooled under the roof of MTU Maintenance Canada in Vancouver, the center of excellence for LRUs and accessories within the MTU Repair Services network.
