Life-limited parts (LLP)
Life-limited modules and parts are among the most costly parts of an engine. Repair of such parts is highly challenging, the repairs having to be carried out in compliance with the manufacturer’s manuals and to strict quality standards. MTU Maintenance’s experts are continuously working to further improve these repair methods. The company’s wide portfolio of OEM repairs and proprietary high-tech repairs developed in-house put the company in a position to provide repair solutions for the entire range of LLPs.
Recent repair process developments have opened up entirely new opportunities in LLP repair. Integrally bladed disks (blisks, also called integrally bladed rotors, IBRs), for example, used to be considered not to be repairable. By applying innovative technologies, MTU Maintenance has succeeded in developing advanced repair processes capable of restoring blisks to perfect condition. Drawing on its extensive experience with the EJ200, a military program, MTU Maintenance is now working to adopt the repair procedure for commercial engines.
