Wim van Beers is the new managing director of Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 4, 2017 -  On April 1, Wim van Beers became the new managing director of Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), a 50:50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines AG and Lufthansa Technik AG. Van Beers joins ASSB from MTU Maintenance, where he spent the past three and a half years as Vice President Marketing and Sales Asia. He follows Derrick Siebert who returns to Lufthansa Technik after 4 years of service at ASSB.

Van Beers holds a degree in business management from the University of Applied Sciences Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He has been with MTU Maintenance since 2009, having joined the engine MRO specialists from Chromalloy, where he held various roles including that of General Manager at Chromalloy San Francisco. 

“With his over twenty years’ experience in the MRO industry, we are delighted that Wim van Beers is assuming the role of managing director at ASSB,” says Holger Sindemann, Director of the Board at ASSB and Executive Vice President MRO Operations at MTU Aero Engines. “Together with Lufthansa Technik, we are committed to ASSB as a center of excellence within our network and continuing investment into growing its portfolio, capabilities and technological strength.”

ASSB has over 80 customers worldwide and provides a comprehensive range of airfoil repair services for high-pressure compressor (HPC) and low-pressure turbine (LPT) airfoils – for widebody and narrowbody engines such as the CF6-80C, GP7000 and the  CFM56 and V2500 engine families. The company’s over 450 employees repair approximately 450,000 parts per year. ASSB’s revenue has grown more than nine-fold since 2003. The company celebrated its 25th anniversary in the fourth quarter of 2016.

MTU and LHT entered into the joint venture with the aim of providing their customers with the best possible airfoil services in the industry. Alongside repair development and baseload volume, the partners contribute knowledge, training and improved quality standards to the location.
