MTU Maintenance wins Aviation Week’s MRO Global Award

• Leading independent MRO organization for successful GE90 introduction

Atlanta, April 16, 2012 – MTU Maintenance has been awarded Leading independent MRO organization by Aviation Week, the largest information and services provider to the global commercial, defense, MRO, space and business aviation communities. The award was presented at Aviation Week’s MRO Global Awards ceremony during MRO Americas in Atlanta (USA). “We are very grateful that Aviation Week has honored us with this prestigious award,” said Dr. Stefan Weingartner, President Commercial Maintenance at MTU Aero Engines. “This is a definite sign of confidence in our products and services and we will continue to earn the satisfaction of our customers by providing them with engines and turbines with benchmark reliability, cost efficiency and at turnaround times unrivaled in the industry.”

MTU Maintenance received the award for the successful introduction of its GE90 program. As one of only few providers worldwide, MTU Maintenance has the full repair capability for the largest engine in the world, including testing the engine at its Hanover facility. Moreover, the company offers a range of additional services, among which are on-wing services as well as technical and logistical support including LRUs (Line Replaceable Units) to keep their customers’ business running 24/7. In addition, MTU Maintenance is the only independent provider worldwide with a spare engine pool for the GE90. Due to a long-standing experience with widebody engines, the company was able to apply its knowhow and own technical solutions for the introduction of the GE90 program. Since adding the engine to its portfolio in 2011, MTU Maintenance has won four long-term customers for maintenance, repair and overhaul: Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand as well as cargo operators Southern Air and Aerologic.

With a global network of locations, MTU Maintenance is the world’s largest independent engine maintenance provider. Apart from core engine maintenance, the company offers customers a broad range of services, ranging from high-tech repair developments to on-wing services, Engine Condition Monitoring and accessory and LRU-management up to MTU’s Total Engine Care. With its services, MTU Maintenance is able to answer its customers individual needs directly, thereby helping them keep maintenance costs low.
