Responsible Foreign Trade

Trade Compliance plays a vital role for MTU. Customs and export control laws govern which products, services and technical data MTU is permitted to sell or pass on to whom, for what purpose and where to. All our business divisions, sites and employees are mandatorily bound by these regulations, which are also explicitly required to be complied with per our Code of Conduct.

To ensure effective compliance with international trade regulations, MTU has established a corporate department for foreign trade setting the frame for harmonized process standards across the group. These include, among other things, a check for existing licensing requirements, e.g. before shipping documents, software or components, as well as controls during bidding procedures towards sensitive countries. The group function Foreign Trade is given cross-functional authority including the right to stop deliveries. Additionally, the head of the foreign trade department has direct access to the CEO being the Executive Board member responsible for export controls.
