MTU Aero Engines is Germany's leading aero engine manufacturer and is one of the big global players in the industry. The company designs, develops, manufactures and markets commercial and military engine modules and components. Its products find homes on aircraft, helicopters and industrial gas turbines. Its second large business is the maintenance of commercial engines; in this field, the company is the world's largest independent services provider in terms of sales.
With its products for the commercial airliner market, MTU has content on engines in all power and thrust categories. MTU has a global workforce of some 9000 employees. In fiscal 2014, the company posted consolidated revenues in the amount of 3.9 billion euros. In 2014 MTU generated an adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT adjusted) of 383 million euros. This corresponds to an adjusted EBIT margin of 9.8 percent.
