Since September 1, 2025, Dr. Johannes Bussmann has been Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) of MTU. At the beginning of 2023, the doctor of aerospace engineering took over as Chairman of the Executive Board of TÜV SÜD AG in Munich. Prior to that, he spent more than two decades in various management positions at Lufthansa Technik AG, from 2012 as Chief Human Resources and Production Officer and, since 2015, as Chief Executive Officer.

Katja Garcia Vila has been a member of the MTU Executive Board since April 2025. On July 1, 2025, she took over the responsibility for Finance and Information Technology. The business administration graduate held various operational positions at Continental AG for over 27 years before joining the MTU Executive Board, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer, Controlling, and IT at Continental AG.

Dr. Silke Maurer has served on the MTU Executive Board as Chief Operating Officer (COO) since February 2023. Her responsibilities include Purchasing, Production, Assembly, and Quality. Before joining the MTU Executive Board, Maurer—who has a degree in mechanical engineering—was Chief Operating Officer at Webasto and at BSH Appliances. Prior to that, she held various management positions at BMW in Germany and abroad.
Dr. Ottmar Pfänder

Dr. Ottmar Pfänder became Chief Program Officer of MTU Aero Engines AG on January 1, 2026. In his role, he oversees marketing & sales and program management in MTU’s commercial and defense programs with activities ranging from production and spare parts businesses with OEM partners and military customers to the aftermarket business with airlines. MTU Maintenance’s global network of sites is also part of the CPO’s organization. Pfänder has been working for MTU since 1999. Prior to his executive board role, he was responsible for MTU‘s commercial engine programs. Before this, he headed the company‘s corporate strategy department.
