GEnx
GEnx
GE's GEnx is designed for medium-capacity long-haul aircraft. Based on the proven architecture of the GE90, the GEnx is intended to succeed GE’s highly successful CF6 series, the best-selling engine family for widebody aircraft. The engine uses latest generation materials and design processes to reduce weight, improve performance and lower noise and maintenance cost.
MTU Aero Engines participates in the GEnx program as a risk-and-revenue sharing partner and has a roughly 6.5-percent stake. MTU is responsible for the development, manufacture and assembly of the turbine center frame. In the process, the company can draw on the experience gained with the turbine center frame for the GP7000, which has proved to be a very reliable and successful component. In line with its participation in the program. MTU Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the turbine center frame.
