Human rights

At MTU, we respect the individuality and dignity of each and every person and oppose all kinds of discrimination. We want our employees to treat each other with respect and appreciation across all hierarchical levels. MTU stands for trust-based, transparent, and open collaboration at all our locations worldwide. To this end, we attach particular importance to fair working conditions, equality of opportunity for all employees, and freedom of assembly and association.

As a company, we are committed to following the principles of the UN Global Compact and see the protection of human rights as a core component of our sustainable corporate leadership as well as a part of our social and ecological responsibility.

The following rules and principles underpin every aspect of MTU’s business activities:

  • United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • International Labour Organization’s (ILO’s) core labor standards
  • 10 principles of the UN Global Compact
  • UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5/8) Read more

MTU products and services, as well as our business activities overall, have a potential effect on the climate, the environment, and thus on people’s living conditions. For this reason, in addition to safeguarding human rights, MTU practices environmental due diligence at all Group companies and in our supply chain. Stipulated in our Code of Conduct for suppliers, this is a binding part of our General Terms and Conditions of Purchase and contractual agreements.

At MTU, we ensure that human rights are upheld at all our locations, including in the context of local conditions. This is spelled out in our internal Code of Conduct, which is binding for all employees at our locations worldwide, and we provide regular training in this area. Compliance with the Code of Conduct and ethical principles is enshrined in the MTU Principles.

Respecting human rights also applies to the actions of our suppliers, service providers, and other business partners in our supply chain.

MTU’s Human Rights Officer is responsible for evaluating reports of potential human rights violations and for monitoring human rights risk management (in accordance with Germany’s Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains). The Human Rights Officer is assisted in their duties by other members of the human rights team. The most important task for human rights coordinators working in the areas of purchasing, human resources, and environmental protection is to produce the annual risk assessment for human rights violations and environmental due diligence at our locations and at our direct suppliers, including suspected cases.

Reports of alleged human rights violations are submitted through our iTrust whistleblower system.
