Commercial Aircraft Engines for Business Jets

Business jets are often used by government officials, corporate executives and private citizens as the most direct means of reaching their destination. Sometimes flying at a cruising altitude of over 15,000 meters, business jets travel in much higher air layers than the vast majority of other commercial aircraft. This gives business jets the advantage of being able to fly above virtually any adverse weather effects.

For three engines—PW300, PW500 and PW800—produced by Pratt & Whitney Canada, MTU supplies crucial modules such as the low-pressure turbine and the high-pressure compressor. MTU has a workshare of up to 25 percent in various engine programs for medium-sized business jets. Maintenance work for Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW600 is performed at the Pratt & Whitney Canada Customer Service Centre—a joint venture between MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg and Pratt & Whitney Canada.
