Through SERVICEPlus, MTU Maintenance offers its customers a full range of individual engine services. These include a 24/7 AOG on-call service staffed by highly qualified teams that can solve customer problems quickly. It makes no difference whether it’s just a spare part missing or a more extensive on-site repair. On request, we also deliver integrated leasing and asset management solutions. Using our engine fleet management software myEFM and engine trend monitoring tools, we ensure intelligent fleet management and proactive maintenance planning.

MTU Maintenance offers its customers 24/7 on-call service and operates a network of facilities around the globe.

ON-SITEPlus services

Whether its a planned on-site/near-wing maintenance or a quick fix during an aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situation, MTU Maintenance’s ON-SITEPlus helps reduce downtimes for customers.  We operate a global network of facilities, including a range of level one shops, and staff are available and on call 24/7. As soon as an operator reports a damaged engine, our dedicated and highly qualified teams are ready to move. Our customer service team organizes the event, including all technical, logistical and customs handling.

Services range from borescope inspections to top case repairs and even entire module replacements on the widest portfolio of engines worldwide, from the CF34 right up to the GE90. Your engine needs replacing? No problem: MTU can have one ready at short notice, and the same goes for our team who can provide comprehensive additional services as soon as called upon.

Whenever possible, we carry out repairs on-wing or at the customer’s site. This reduces downtime as well as total cost. It also extends the on-wing times of our customers’ engines. If the repair is more extensive, we facilitate a hospital shop visit at one of our dedicated ON-SITEPlus workshops. True to our maxim, we are not satisfied until we find the best solution for our customers.

Leasing services

Engine leasing

In the aviation industry, where time and money are of the essence, airlines require smooth aircraft operations to ensure commercial success. This calls for flexible engine leasing solutions. MTU Maintenance offers a wide range of leasing services: no matter whether our customers need swift support in an AOG situation or are looking to lease during the term of a shop visit, we always tailor our services to their specific needs. 

Our services include short-term and long-term leasing, standby arrangements and custom pooling solutions. Our leasing pool contains around 100 owned engines and we can source further engines, if required.

Customer benefits are clear: low capital investment, minimum downtimes and high flexibility without compromising on operational reliability.

Engine stand leasing

For any off-wing work on an engine, one piece of equipment is of vital importance: the shipping stand. Given its critical role in the logistics of engine MRO, MTU Maintenance now offers engine stand leasing as part of its SERVICEPlus portfolio.

Our customers no longer need to invest capital into purchasing, managing and maintaining their own pool of engine stands. Instead, they can lease one from our stock. MTU offers a large variety of stands for today’s most popular narrowbody and widebody engines.

The stand leasing service is provided in cooperation with leading engine equipment manufacturer Advanced Ground Systems Engineering™ (AGSE®). This partnership allows MTU Maintenance’s leasing arm to offer high-quality, OEM-approved shipping stands, which are strategically located across the globe to safely and quickly transport your assets.

Technical asset management

More and more aircraft and engines are being leased, which means the number and pace of transitions is also increasing. For owners and operators of engines, the top priorities are safety and asset value retention. They also want to be sure that they have the best possible technical support for their engines.

MTU Maintenance specializes in managing these valuable assets. Our technical asset management services (TAMS) offer our customers comprehensive and independent support—including technical consulting such as fleet and records management; logistics support with including specialist engine storage; and transition management services.

These services are fully supported by digital tools, such as WebETM 3.0 and MTU’s in-house developed AI-assisted fleet management software. In addition, we offer digitalized borescope inspections and records archiving.

Expertise you can count on: we help our customers minimize risks and optimize their operating and maintenance costs. On request, these services are available as modular and fully customizable packages, including MRO.

Parts repair expertise

“Repair beats replacement” is MTU Maintenance’s philosophy. We are continuously developing high-quality repair solutions for engine modules, individual components and accessories. In addition to OEM repairs, our proprietary high-tech repairs help our airline customers save money thanks to long component service life, lower fuel consumption and reduced scrap rates. In addition, we offer full parts management packages with all MTU repair services including AOG support, logistics and storage.

Our LRU management services range from on-wing and off-wing maintenance and repairs to comprehensive, hassle-free component management for all LRUs and engine accessories. We handle the entire process, including vendor management and logistics. We can also provide and manage main base kits. Our customers benefit from significant cost reductions and a fast service with LRU deliveries within 24 hours.

When it comes to engine teardowns, our specialists manage the process including the repair of the parts.

Digital services

Engine trend monitoring

WebETM 3.0 is the latest iteration of MTU Maintenance’s remote engine trend monitoring (ETM) software, which was first developed and applied in-house in the early 2000s. It is an intelligent tool for predictive maintenance planning and can be used for an individual engine or entire fleets, regardless of model or type. The software analyzes technical data after each flight and flags any abnormalities in the operation of an engine.

Together with empirical data gathered during shop visits, these insights allow us to identify and resolve the first indications of engine wear early on. They benefit from 24/7 analysis by MTU experts, longer and optimized on-wing times and reduced cost of ownership or operation across the lifecycle of their engines.

Engine fleet management

The best way to describe MTU Maintenance’s myEFM is revolutionary. It is a fleet management software that combines technical data, algorithms and artificial intelligence to help generate optimal maintenance strategies for our customers’ engine fleet—automatically and in real-time. myEFM supports detailed planning scenarios with precision workscoping down to the modular level for an engine’s entire lifecycle.

Even when financial, technical, operational, environmental or market conditions shift, maintenance costs are fully transparent and can be updated and run through our system at any time to generate new scenarios. These scenarios are then assessed in collaboration with MTU’s engine experts to come up with the best possible recommendations for the fleet planning of our customers.

Damage analyses

As an engine specialist with extensive technical expertise, MTU Maintenance is the right partner to analyze damage on behalf of its customers and help them settle insurance claims. We determine the exact cause of engine abnormalities and failures. In addition, we provide recommendations on how to prevent similar damage in the future. We also help our customers optimize their processes. They receive meticulous documentation of primary and consequential damage as well as detailed damage analyses.
