25 years of innovation, precision and tailored engineering solutions
| MTU Aero Engines North America celebrates 25th anniversary
| Connecticut-based site is an indispensable part of MTU Aero Engines’ engineering network
| The company is expanding its workforce as a sign of continued growth and ambition
Rocky Hill / Munich, July 18, 2025 | MTU Aero Engines North America (MTU AENA) proudly marks its quarter of a century milestone: Founded in 2000, the company looks back on an impressive record of high-tech engineering achievements and long-standing commitment to the local industry and community.
Twenty-five years ago, German-based engine experts from MTU Aero Engines launched the Rocky Hill location with the first twenty-five employees. Today, that number has grown ten-fold – the Connecticut site now boasts over 250 employees and aims to continue expanding its workforce. Furthermore, MTU has made consistent investments in state of the art technology, equipment and a modern working environment. These milestones were celebrated with employees and representatives from local government and businesses on July 17 at the New England Air Museum, in Windsor Locks, CT.
MTU AENA was originally founded to support engineering collaboration for all partnership programs between German-based MTU Aero Engines and U.S.-based Pratt & Whitney. Over the years, MTU AENA has become a vital pillar of MTU’s global engineering network. The team now supports more than 200 projects each year for MTU and 3rd party customers, with revenue having more than doubled over the last 10 years.
“For 25 years, our subsidiary in Rocky Hill has stood for innovation, precision, and tailored engineering solutions. This anniversary marks a significant milestone and is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the AENA team”, says MTU Aero Engines CEO Lars Wagner. “Our commitment has always been to deliver the highest quality and cutting-edge technology to our partners and customers. AENA plays an important part in this. I want to sincerely thank the entire team for their outstanding work and look forward to what you’ll achieve in the years ahead.”
MTU AENA provides a full range of engineering services to customers in the aerospace and power generation industries, for both commercial and military applications. The teams perform conceptual, preliminary and detailed design work as well as structural, thermal and secondary air system analyses alongside project engineering, customer support, and customized assessments and solutions for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines.
“Our 25th anniversary is a proud moment. Our Rocky Hill facility has always been a hub for engineering excellence and innovation. We’re proud to continue the expansion of our workforce as a sign of our continued growth and ambition”, says Jonathan Leach, President and CEO of MTU Aero Engines North America. “With a strong portfolio, deep expertise, and a passion for solving complex engineering challenges, we are committed to support the development of sustainable engine solutions for the future of aviation. AENA is on a strong path forward, and we’re excited about what the next 25 years and beyond will bring.”
