Dubai Airshow: Orders worth over 400 million US dollars
Munich, November 21, 2025 | MTU Aero Engines AG can look back on a successful Dubai Airshow 2025: Orders worth more than 400 million US dollars were received at the aviation trade fair.
“This success demonstrates that MTU has the right portfolio mix and is also excellently positioned in the widebody segment. The GE9X for the Boeing 777X and the GEnx engine for the Dreamliner were particularly strong programs in Dubai,” says Michael Schreyögg, Chief Program Officer at MTU Aero Engines.
Emirates placed the largest single order. The airline ordered 130 GE9X engines for its Boeing 777X aircraft. MTU contributes the turbine center frame to the GE9X and holds a four percent share in the program. Flydubai purchased 60 GEnx engines to power its Boeing 787-9 fleet. MTU has a 6.65 percent stake in the GEnx and is also responsible for the turbine center frame. Independently of the Dubai Airshow, Saudia Airlines also recently decided to equip 39 Dreamliners with GEnx engines.
There were also sales successes in Dubai in the narrowbody segment: Helvetic Airlines placed a firm order for three E195-E2s with Embraer and has options for five more. The E195-E2 is powered exclusively by the PW1900G, in which MTU holds a 15 percent stake. MTU develops and manufactures various high-pressure compressor stages, the high-speed low-pressure turbine, and brush seals for the engine.
