MTU Maintenance do Brasil moves to new, larger maintenance shop for on-site and field service

| New 2,000m2-facility in São Paulo to meet growing demand for gas-turbine field service and aero engines on-site services

| Focus on growing the team of engine experts and additional service provisions

São Paulo, October 9, 2025 | MTU Maintenance do Brasil has inaugurated a new facility, thereby tripling its previous footprint in order to meet South America’s growing on-site and field service maintenance demand for aero engines and industrial gas turbines (IGT).

As part of MTU’s global network and official presence in South America, the São Paulo-based company has taken the next step to offer engine operators more capacities to service their assets locally, as well as keep parts stock readily on hand. Thomas Heinhold, Managing Director at MTU Maintenance do Brasil, explains that the move to the 2,000m2-facility is the result of continuous expansion of the location’s capabilities and portfolio, which is comprised of on-site and near-wing workscopes for CF6, CF34, CFM56, GE90 and V2500 aero engines, as well as field service for LMTM-series IGTs.

“Since last year, we have also been providing services for the LEAP engine and we aim to further expand the service portfolio,” Heinhold says, adding that he plans on growing the team beyond 25 engine experts by year-end. “In line with this commitment, we can bundle the MTU network’s know-how and infrastructure for projects across the world and receive as well as deliver support with additional capabilities and capacities.”

André Sinanian, Managing Director and Senior VP at MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, whose location steers MTU’s worldwide on-site operations, points out the company’s unique market position. It has a global network of level-two service centers for IGTs and, at the same time, on-site maintenance expertise for the most popular aero engines in aviation. He adds:

“MTU Maintenance do Brasil is a prime example of how we set up our global service centers, which always aim to be close to our customers in order to support with local capabilities quickly and flexibly.”

Founded in 2012, MTU Maintenance do Brasil is a wholly-owned subsidiary of MTU Aero Engines and as a level-one facility for aero engines, the team can conduct borescope and end-of-lease inspections, replace fan blades, top cases and gearboxes, in addition to repairing and replacing low-pressure and high-pressure compressor vanes. The IGT field service center is equipped with Level 2 tools for on-site work on GE’s LM2500TM and LM6000TM-PC industrial gas turbines and holds all necessary import and export licenses.
