The Design Integration Engineer II is responsible for the interface definitions of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) or the high-speed Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) for the Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine programs (PW1000G), where MTU is participating in a risk sharing partner mode of cooperation as the design responsible party.

The Design Integration Engineer II reports to the Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) Leader and supports key development activities. He/she drives module design activities including: Engineering changes, interface coordination, configuration management, special technical issues, and technical action closures.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the preparation and closure of mechanical and functional interface documents during the design, testing, certification and production phases (i.e. CICR’s)
  • Coordinate engineering changes (ECs) and execute workflow/review process for all MTU owned ECs
  • Support design optimization and design review preparation
  • Support the module development, involve individual component teams in Munich, Germany, and Pratt & Whitney’s Configuration Control Board, which is a multi-disciplined team ensuring product integrity
  • Support configuration management & the HPC/LPT CIPT; utilize Pratt and Whitney’s configuration management tool (Teamcenter) to manage relevant technical data.
  • Work with Pratt & Whitney and MTU Munich colleagues on a regular basis; utilize cultural intelligence to further strengthen the P&W/MTU partnership
  • Understand capabilities of the organization and try to identify additional custom needs that can be filled by the organization; bring opportunites to Group Lead or Manager

  • Working knowledge of Unigraphics and Teamcenter (desirable)
  • Knowledge of CIPT team methods and processes (desirable)
