MTU Power tapped for MRO work on Petrobras LM6000ᵀᴹ gas turbines
| Exclusive contract covers 10 IGTs as well as hot-section repairs
| MTU’s supports with MRO in Germany and field service in Brazil
Ludwigsfelde, July 23, 2026 |MTU Maintenance has signed an exclusive five-year contract with Petrobras, covering part of the energy company’s LM6000TM industrial gas turbine (IGT) fleet.
The agreement includes maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provisions at MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, as well as field services by MTU Maintenance do Brasil. Under its MTU Power brand, the world-leading provider of customized engine solutions will support Latin America’s largest company with comprehensive services for a fleet of ten LM6000TM engines and three associated hot sections. The engines are deployed across four sites in the Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
“The contract with Petrobras marks an important milestone in MTU’s IGT program and our ambitions for its future. Last year, MTU expanded its São Paulo operations to a larger location and this summer, will move into a dedicated field service facility in Houston, Texas, the energy-producing heartland of the U.S.A.
Petrobras, headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, operates in the oil, gas and energy sectors and runs an extensive IGT fleet, including approximately 40 LM6000TM and 150 LM2500TM units. The new contract with its gas and energy division builds on a longstanding relationship between the two companies.

In the 45-year-long history of its IGT program, MTU Maintenance has conducted well over 1,700 shop visits on LMTM-series gas turbines.
In addition to MTU’s capacity in the Americas, MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, the network’s home and nerve center for IGT operations, is in the midst of the construction of a new, state-of-the-art maintenance facility to accommodate a planned 30-percent increase in shop visit volume.
