Patrick Biebel to head up MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V.

Amsterdam, January 14, 2021 – Effective January 1st, Patrick Biebel (34) took over the helm of MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V., a joint venture between MTU Aero Engines and Sumitomo Corporatation headquartered in Amsterdam. In his role as Managing Director, Biebel follows on from Andrea Lübke and he will be responsible for MTU’s leasing business, asset management activities and driving the company forward.

“We would like to thank Andrea for her excellent leadership and dedication over the past years and wish her the very best in her new role,” says Martin Friis-Petersen, SVP MRO Programs, MTU Aero Engines. Lübke will move back to MTU Aero Engines’ headquarters and take on the role of Senior Vice President Corporate Development reporting to group CEO Reiner Winkler. In her new position, she will head up the strategy, business development, mergers and acquisitions and innovation teams for the entire MTU group.

Prior to this position, Biebel was Vice President Corporate Development and in charge of all of MTU’s mergers and acquisitions and business development activities – ensuring the future growth and success of MTU’s aftermarket division. Biebel joined MTU in 2012 and has assumed various positions with increasing responsibilities within MTU’s commercial MRO, finance and corporate development organizations.

Established in 2014, MTU Maintenance Lease Services is an 80/20 joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation. It offers a wide range of short and medium-term leasing solutions for a broad portfolio of engines, including the popular CFM56, GE90 and V2500 engines, for operators, as well as technical support and asset and material management for engine owners. Since founding in 2014, MLS has grown its worldwide presence with offices in Amsterdam, Hannover, Singapore, Dublin and Atlanta. With a team of over 50 engine leasing and asset management experts, the company continues to drive new service developments to complement the MTU Maintenance product offering.
