Marc Sauber is leaving MTU Aero Engines AG at his own request and by mutual agreement in the middle of next year in order to devote himself to new tasks. The company will announce the future structure and new management of the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs division once the final arrangements have been made.

MTU Aero Engines will be presenting its passion for engines at the Dubai Airshow from 17^th-21^st November.  The company will be highlighting its full-spectrum of expertise at booth #830, from innovative commercial propulsion concepts like the Flying Fuel Cell™ (FFC) to in-service engines like the an EJ200 engine that powers the military aircraft Eurofighter Typhoon as well as a comprehensive multimedia exhibit of its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) portfolio.

In fiscal 2024, MTU Aero Engines AG set new records: adjusted revenue climbed 18% from €6.3 billion to a new all-time high of €7.5 billion. Adjusted EBIT for 2024 was up 28% on the previous year’s figure of €818 million, exceeding the one-billion-euro mark for the first time at €1,050 million. The adjusted EBIT margin was 14.0%, compared with 12.9% in 2023. Adjusted net income  rose 29%, reaching a new record high at €764 million (2023: €594 million).

MTU Maintenance aims to further grow its global ON-SITE^Plus service activities, as the demand for on- and near-wing maintenance and hospital shop visits continues to increase worldwide. In 2023, MTU’s ON-SITE^Plus completed well over 1000 on-site events for over 500 customers globally.

MTU Aero Engines AG has published its preliminary figures for 2023. The figures were affected, in particular, by the Geared Turbofan fleet management plan, which has been eliminated as a one-time special item to enhance comparability. In 2023, MTU generated adjusted revenue of €6.3 billion, an in-crease of 19% compared with 2022 (2022: €5.3 billion). Adjusted EBIT increased by 25% from €655 million to €818 million in 2023. The adjusted EBIT margin rose from 12.3% in 2022 to 12.9% in 2023. Adjusted net income was 25% higher at €594 million (2022: €476 million). The Geared Turbofan fleet management plan had an impact of around €1 billion on the reported figures. Consequently, in 2023 MTU generated reported revenue of €5.4 billion, reported EBIT of €-161 million and a reported net loss of €97 million. 
 

MTU Aero Engines AG has analyzed the impact of the expanded geared turbofan inspection program on the financial year 2023 and continues to anticipate significant resulting charges. “We have to expect significant burdens on our reported revenue and earnings figures for 2023,” says Lars Wagner, CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG. Against this background, MTU had made its guidance for the financial year 2023 subject to reservations after details of the expanded geared turbofan inspection program became known on Monday.

A group of aerospace technology companies have announced the formation of a collaborative consortium to develop hybrid-electric and water-enhanced turbofan technology for future aircraft propulsion systems, supported by the European Union Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking (Clean Aviation). MTU Aero Engines AG (MTU), Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace (Collins), GKN Aerospace, Airbus and others aim to demonstrate the potential of these technologies to improve fuel efficiency and reduce aircraft CO2 emissions by up to 25% compared to today's state-of-the-art propulsion systems for short- and medium-range aircraft. The consortium is coordinated by MTU.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, today signed an exclusive contract for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of V2500-A5 engines.

On 30 April 2022, Holger Sindemann (53), Managing Director of MTU Maintenance Hannover GmbH, will leave MTU after 16 years of service. For 10 years, he had managed the Hannover site and the operational maintenance business (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul; MRO) of MTU. The cross-location function of the Head of MRO Operations has now been eliminated as part of a reorganisation. Sindemann has taken this opportunity to resign from his position as managing director and leave MTU because of the lack of opportunities for further development. His successor will be Jaap Beijer (44), who is currently the managing director of MTU Maintenance Zhuhai. Subject to approval by the supervisory board, he will take over the new role on 1 May 2022.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, a 50/50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Airlines Company Limited, marks 20 years since the company was founded. Over the past two decades, the facility has completed over 3,000 engines and grown from a greenfield facility to become the largest engine shop in Asia by shop visits.

At todays’ meeting, the Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG resolved to present a proposal for a dividend of €1.25 to the virtual Annual General Meeting on April 21, 2021. International Aero Engines LLC and MTU Maintenance have signed an 11-year PW1100G-JM aftermarket agreement, committing themselves to further investment in the engine’s aftermarket network. The contract covers a signif-icant quantity of shop visits per year, in addition to the existing and substantial com-mitments to the program. This is a clear and strong signal to the industry that, despite the current unprecedented crisis it is facing, both companies still believe in the mid and long-term success of the PW1100G-JM engine program – part of the GTF family and flying on the A320neo.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai and Pratt & Whitney have signed a network agreement that covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Pratt & Whitney GTF™ PW1100G-JM engines at the facility in China. The facility will begin introduction of PW1100G-JM capabilities immediately and expects to be able to carry out MRO work from mid-2021. MTU Maintenance Zhuhai estimates a volume of 1,000 shop visits in the next ten years.

MTU Aero Engines AG had another record year: revenue in 2019 reached a new high of €4,628.4 million (2018: €4,567.1 million). Operating profit came in at €756.9 million, surpassing the previous high of €671.4 million in 2018 by 13%. The EBIT margin rose from 14.7% to 16.4%. Net income increased by 12%, from €479.1 million to €537.6 million.

High-tech at its best: MTU Aero Engines has built a new test center for engine parts on its Munich premises, investing an amount of more than 25 million euros in a new building and the most advanced test equipment. After two years of construction, the test center is now operational. This afternoon, Judith Gerlach, Bavarian State Minister for Digital Affairs, and MTU’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Lars Wagner inaugurated the facility in a ceremony attended by around 100 guests from business, politics and science as well as company employees.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai announces that it now has the capability to maintain CFM International[1] LEAP engines. The General Support License Agreement (GSLA) signed between China Southern, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai’s 50/50 joint venture partner alongside MTU Aero Engines, and CFM International will enable the facility to maintain, repair and overhaul LEAP-1A and -1B engines.

Following a recommendation made by the Working Committee for Equity Indices, Deutsche Börse today decided to admit MTU Aero Engines AG to the DAX, Germany’s primary stock index, effective September 23, 2019.

Airfoil Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB), a 50/50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines AG and Lufthansa Technik AG, has broken ground on its facility extension. This expansion grows facility space by 5,200 square meters and will increase current repair capacity from 650,000 to 900,000 parts per year by 2020. This development underlines the shareholders’ commitment to increasing its footprint and investing in Malaysia.

MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, and long-term partner Atlas Air, Inc., a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc., recently signed a seven-year extension of their CF6-80C2 contract. The contract builds on over 15 years collaboration between the two companies and includes maintenance, repair and overhaul coverage of over 200 engines powering Atlas Air’s B747 and B767 fleets, as well as engine trend monitoring. It incorporates numerous elements of MTU Maintenance’s SAVEPlus offering, one of the MTUPlus intelligent solutions and a product dedicated to reducing cost through smart strategies for mature engines

At half-year, MTU Aero Engines AG has raised its forecast for 2019. The company is now projecting an adjusted EBIT margin in the region of 16 %. The original forecast had been 15.5 % (2018: 14.7 %). “The increase in the earnings outlook mainly reflects two factors: One is that our MTU Maintenance Zhuhai site in China developed somewhat more positively than anticipated. In addition, changes in the product mix also had a positive effect,” said Reiner Winkler, CEO of MTU Aero Engines AG. Net income adjusted is expected to increase in line with EBIT adjusted (EBIT adjusted, 2018: € 671.4 million, net income adjusted, 2018: € 479.1 million). The cash conversion rate – that is, the ratio of free cash flow to net income adjusted – is expected to lie between 65 and 70 % in 2019. MTU’s previous forecast specified a target range between 55 and 65 % (2018: 42 %).
 

MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, and valued, long-term partner JetBlue Airways signed an exclusive 13-year contract for the airline’s V2500 pre-select fleet today. The contract covers maintenance, repair and overhaul for the engines from 2020 to 2033. This contract takes MTU Maintenance’s total contract wins to 4.5 billion U.S. Dollars for the first seven months of 2019.

This year's aviation industry gathering in Paris ends with an order intake of more than 1.3 billion US Dollars (about 1.2 billion euros; according to list price) for MTU Aero Engines. The orders for Germany's leading engine manufacturer mainly result from orders and memorandums of understanding (MoU) for the geared turbofan (GTF) engines of the PW1000G family for short- and medium-range aircraft. They account for around 95 percent of the volume during the Paris Air Show. There was also a commitment for the GEnx long-range engine, in which MTU also has a stake.

MTU Maintenance Canada has taken possession of a brownfield site adding capacity to the Vancouver operations. The building is located next to Boundary Bay airport, in the Vancouver suburb of Delta and was originally designed and operated as a maintenance facility for helicopters and helicopter engines. The facility will immediately provide much-needed additional expansion space of around 60 percent. Following minor modifications by year-end, it also enables MTU Maintenance Canada to consolidate all of its repair activates, currently spread across three locations at Vancouver airport, into one location.

MTU Aero Engines AG, a leading engine manufacturer and one of the world’s largest engine maintenance providers, has chosen the municipality of Nova Pazova, about 25 kilometers north of Belgrade International Airport as the location for its new repair facility. The company will establish a parts repair shop with a capacity of approximately 400,000 annual repair hours. This is in addition to the 1.9 million repair hours MTU currently performs per year at existing facilities. The new site will be run by MTU Maintenance Serbia d.o.o., a 100 percent MTU subsidiary to be founded soon, and is expected to be operational over the course of 2022.

Hybrid, safe and practically noiseless: These are the attributes of an innovative small aircraft, dubbed Silent Air Taxi, e.SAT GmbH, a company based in Aachen, Germany, plans to bring to the market. The new air taxi, which is capable of carrying five passengers, was presented to the public for the first time last week. Today, the project has reached the next milestone: On the first day of this year’s International Paris Air Show, e.SAT GmbH and MTU Aero Engines signed a letter of intent (LoI). The parties agreed that Germany’s leading engine manufacturer will take a stake in the development and production of the unique hybrid-electric powertrain for the new aircraft and acquire shares in the recently founded company in the amount of ten million euros.

MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, has signed an exclusive four-year CFM56-5B contract with GoAir, a low-fare carrier based in Mumbai, India. The contract covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul as well as spare engine support and on-site services for the CFM56-5B engines powering the airline’s 17 A320 aircraft.  

Ten years ago, the first 200 employees at MTU Aero Engines Polska started producing their first engine components. Today, the site in the Polish Aviation Valley near Rzeszów has about 900 employees – and is indispensable in the production network of Germany's leading engine manufacturer. On May 16, a ceremony was held with employees and representatives from local politics and businesses to celebrate this milestone.

MTU Aero Engines AG and the Government of the Republic of Serbia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with regard to the company’s intention to set up a new industrial site in Serbia today. The Serbian government strongly supports this new venture, which will most likely be located in the Belgrade region. Due to ongoing negotiations, a decision regarding a specific location has not yet been made. MTU, a leading engine manufacturer and one of the world’s largest engine maintenance providers, plans to expand its current network with a dedicated parts repair facility. After a carefully considered selection process including sites across Europe, MTU decided in favour of Serbia as the home of this growth project.

In the first quarter of 2019, MTU Aero Engines AG saw its revenues increase by 11 % from € 1,016.4 million to € 1,131.2 million. The group’s operating profit grew by 7 % to € 187.6 million (1-3/2018: € 175.1 million), resulting in an adjusted EBIT margin of 16.6 % (1-3/2018: 17.2 %). Net income  increased in line with EBIT adjusted, rising by 8 % from € 123.3 million to € 133.5 million.

In recent months, the company has won contracts valued at more than 700 million U.S. dollars through its excellent, cost-effective solutions. 

MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, has signed a twelve-year GE90-115B maintenance contract with United Airlines. The fly-by-hour contract covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 49 engines powering the airline’s B777-300ER fleet and includes MTU proprietary repairs as well as engine trend monitoring.

MTU Maintenance once again broke records in 2018. The MRO division of MTU Aero Engines AG secured around 4.4 billion US dollars in MRO contract wins, surpassing the 4 billion mark for the first time in its history. Over 300 contracts were signed in 2018, of which 46 were with new engine MRO customers.
 

The Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG today accepted the Executive Board’s proposal to raise the company’s dividend to € 2.85 per share for the financial year 2018. This proposal, which represents an increase of 55 euro cents, or 24 %, compared with the previous year’s dividend, will be presented to the voting members of the Annual General Meeting on April 11, 2019.

MTU Aero Engines AG once again set new records in the financial year 2018. Revenues increased by 17 % from € 3,897.4 million in 2017 to a new high of € 4,567.1 million. The group’s operating profit reached a new record level of € 671.4 million, similarly beating the previous year’s result by 17 % (2017: € 572.5 million). Net income also surpassed the previous record of € 404.9 million, set in 2017, growing by 18 % to € 479.1 million.

In the presence of the French and German Ministers of Defense, respectively Florence Parly and Ursula von der Leyen, Safran Aircraft Engines and MTU Aero Engines today officially announced their partnership to jointly lead the development, the production and the after-sales support activities of the new engine that will power the next-generation combat aircraft, as part of the Franco-German Future Combat Air System (FCAS). The aircraft will enter into service by 2040 to complement the current generation of Eurofighter and Rafale fighter aircraft.

MTU Aero Engines' technology is in each and every geared turbofan (GTF) engine produced for the Airbus A320neo. Its Polish subsidiary, MTU Aero Engines Polska, started to assemble the first low-pressure turbine for the geared turbofan model PW1100G-JM about three and a half years ago. At the end of the year 2018, the MTU site in Poland completed the 1000th module and delivered it to Pratt & Whitney. For MTU, this marks another milestone in the production ramp-up of this game-changing engine program at its site in Rzeszów.
 

Munich / Hannover, December 13th, 2018 – On 1st January 2019, Martin Friis-Petersen (45) will take on the role of Senior Vice President MRO Programs at MTU Aero Engines, heading up the sales and marketing organization for MTU Maintenance. He takes over from Leo Koppers (60), who is retiring after 16 years with MTU.

Munich, November 30, 2018 – At its Capital Market Day, MTU Aero Engines AG presented its outlook for the group’s short- and long-term growth. The commercial series production and spare parts revenues are expected to be the main sources of growth in 2019. In a turnaround from previous years, the military engine business is predicted to take off again. MTU expects its adjusted EBIT margin to remain stable. In the short and long term, the prospects for growth in all business units are better than originally assumed. Net income is forecast to rise steadily between now and 2025, accompanied by further improvements in free cash flow.

The agreement covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the Pakistani operator’s CFM56-7 engines, powering its Boeing 737-800 fleet. Further, the agreement includes on-site support and spare engine leasing. The contract also includes the option to expand the scope in the future to include additional engines from Serene Air’s fleet.

Zhuhai, November 7, 2018 – MTU Maintenance Zhuhai signed a number of agreements at the Zhuhai Airshow in China this morning. The first was a five-year agreement with longstanding customer Hainan Airlines for V2500 MRO services. Hainan Airlines and MTU Maintenance Zhuhai have worked together on CFM56 engines for well over ten years and are now expanding their cooperation to include the V2500 engines powering the airline’s A320 fleet.

Hannover, November 6, 2018 – MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, has signed a CFM56-7 engine MRO contract with new customer Regent Airways. Zhuhai, November 6, 2018 – MTU Aero Engines AG and China Southern Airlines have extended their joint venture contract for its joint engine MRO facility, MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, by 20 years to 2051.

Munich, October 25, 2018 – In the first nine months of 2018, MTU Aero Engines generated revenues of € 3,318.7 million, up 14% on the previous year (1-9/2017: € 2,900.8 million). The group’s operating profit increased by 16% from € 439.9 million to € 508.9 million. The EBIT margin stood at 15.3%
(1-9/2017: 15.2%). Earnings after tax rose by 16% to € 362.8 million (1-9/2017: € 312.8 million).

Seoul, September 28, 2018 – MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, signed a five-year V2500 contract with Asiana Airlines today. The contract covers the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 40 percent and engine trend monitoring for all of Asiana Airline and its subsidiaries’ V2500 fleet. The deal is worth around 245 million euros. 

Zhuhai, August 27, 2018 – MTU Maintenance, the global leader in customized solutions for aero engines, has signed a contract with Jazeera Airways. The three-year contract covers the maintenance repair and overhaul of the CFM56-5B engines that power the airline’s fleet of A320 aircraft. Jazeera Airways is MTU  Maintenance’s first airline customer in Kuwait and continues the MRO provider’s successful trajectory in the Middle East market.

Vancouver, August 14th -- MTU Maintenance Canada, a North American affiliate of German engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, celebrated its 20th anniversary this weekend with customers, partners, and employees. The event included a ceremony at the facility as well as a trip to local Abbotsford Airshow.

Munich, August 1, 2018 – Late last week, MTU Turbomeca Rolls-Royce ITP GmbH (known as MTRI), jointly with its partners MTU Aero Engines, Safran Helicopter Engines, Rolls-Royce and ITP Aero, approved AIA Bordeaux (Atelier Industriel de L’Aéronautique de Bordeaux) as the first MTR390-Enhanced MRO shop. At the facility in France, all variants of the MTR390 family of engines, which power the Tiger combat helicopter, will be maintained in the future, especially so the propulsion systems operated by the French Armed Forces. As of now, the first helicopters powered by MTR390-E engines, too, can be repaired and overhauled on site. Back in January this year, MTRI already awarded AIA Bordeaux the certificate as an approved shop for Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). The facility overhauls these LRUs on site for all participating nations. Approval of yet another MTR390 MRO shop, based in Spain’s Albacete, is scheduled for April 2019. In both instances, MTU takes care of the project management.

Munich, July 26, 2018 – MTU Aero Engines generated revenues of € 2,148.6 million in the first six months of 2018, up 9 % on the previous year (1-6/17: € 1,977.0 million). The group’s operating profit increased by 13 % from € 296.3 million to € 334.6 million, resulting in an EBIT margin increase from 15.0 % to 15.6 %. Earnings after tax also increased by 13 % to € 237.0 million (1-6/17: € 210.1 million).

Ludwigsfelde, July 20, 2018 - MTU Maintenance, one of the world’s leading provider of MRO services for commercial aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines, has laid the foundation stone for a new logistics center at its Ludwigsfelde location today. The total investment for the new building with a workspace of 6,500 square meters is 11.5 million euros. The additional floor space is needed to cater to the location’s continued growth. Between 2016 and 2018, the number of operating hours has risen 30 percent and is expected to increase further in the two-digit percentage range in the years to come, the reasons being higher workloads and the addition of new engine models to the company’s portfolio. Plans are to have the logistics center up and running in June 2019.

Munich, Farnborough, July 20, 2018 – This year’s Farnborough International Airshow proved a major success for MTU Aero Engines. Germany’s leading engine manufacturer secured orders worth around 800 million euros (according to list price), in particular with orders and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for the PW1000G- geared turbofan (GTF) engine family for single-aisle aircraft.

Vancouver, July 12th -- MTU Maintenance Canada celebrated the redelivery of the first V2500 engine for customer IAE International Aero Engines AG (“IAE”) in Vancouver at the end of June. Munich, May 3, 2018 – MTU Aero Engines AG generated revenues of €1,016.4 million in the first quarter of 2018, an increase of 5% compared with the same period of the previous year (1-3/2017: €971.9 million). The group’s operating profit rose by 11% from €157.9 million to €175.1 million, pushing up the EBIT margin from 16.2% to 17.2%. Earnings after tax increased in line with operating profit, growing by 10% from €111.7 million in the first quarter of 2017 to €123.3 million. Plans are for MTU Aero Engine Polska’s existing floor space to be enlarged by another 11,400 square meters, with groundbreaking for the construction planned in September 2018. The number of employees will increase from nearly 800 today to over 1,000 by 2020, which is tantamount to a 25-percent rise in headcount. 

Munich, April 5, 2018 – Brazilian airframer Embraer has delivered the first E-Jet E190-E2 to its launch customer, Norwegian regional carrier Widerøe. The aircraft has technologies made by MTU Aero Engines on board: MTU has a program share of 17 percent in the PW1900G geared turbofan engine, contributing technologies in which it excels – the unique high-speed low-pressure turbine and the forward four stages of the high-pressure compressor.

Hamburg, Munich, March 26, 2018 – Starting in May 2018, one of the most advanced maintenance facilities in the aerospace industry will be erected in Jasionka (province of Subcarpathia) in the south-east of Poland. EME Aero (Engine Maintenance Europe), a joint ven-ture of Lufthansa Technik AG and MTU Aero Engines AG, has officially acquired the building site for the planned maintenance shop in Poland’s Aviation Valley near Rzeszów airport. The two parties to the joint venture will invest a total amount of around 150 million euros in the region by 2020.

Munich, February 12, 2018 – The T408 engine that will power the U.S. Marine Corps’ CH-53K heavy-lift helicopter is now going into production. The contract to build 22 T408-GE-400s and provide logistics and engineering support for the engine, valued at 143,481,258 million U.S. dollars, has been awarded to GE Aviation by the U.S. military, marking a major milestone. MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer, is responsible for the development and production of the power turbine for the T408 engine and has a work share of 18 percent in the engine program. The U.S. Marine Corps expects its first squadron of CH-53K helicopters to reach initial operational capability by 2019.

Munich, December 14, 2017 – As the geared turbofans (GTFs) of the first generation are busy clocking up mileage in revenue service, MTU Aero Engines engineers already have their hands full working on the second generation: Under the European Union’s Clean Sky 2 research project, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer continues to enhance the fuel-efficient, low-emission, low-noise propulsion system, developing new technologies for two of its modules, the low-pressure turbine and high-pressure compressor. Two demonstrators are being built to validate the new technologies.

Munich, December 12, 2017 – At its Investor and Analyst Day 2017, MTU Aero Engines AG provided a concrete outlook for the period to 2025. 2017 marks the end of the company’s most substantial investment phase, from which it emerged with an increased adjusted EBIT margin. In 2018, MTU will move into a consolidation phase during which the company expects a continuing rise in earnings and substantially higher free cash flows. Between now and 2025, the company aims to boost its average cash conversion rate into the high double digits through the combined effect of a moderate increase in working capital and a decrease in the cash flow from investing activities. Munich, December 5, 2017 – Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines have set up a joint venture for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of geared turbofan engines, with each of the partners holding a stake of 50 percent in the new company. The name of the new JV is Engine Maintenance Europe, or EME Aero for short. The contract, which followed up on an agreement on the general principles of the cooperation signed in February 2017, was finalized by the two companies on December 4.

The introduction of the engine line that serves the world’s A320 fleet is the result of an agreement between Pratt & Whitney, IAE and MTU Aero Engines. It enables MTU Maintenance Canada to serve the IAE aftermarket network for the life of the V2500 program. The first engine is already at the facility for overhaul. 

Munich, October 26, 2017 – In the first nine months of 2017, MTU Aero Engines AG saw its revenues increase by 10% to €3,745.4 million (1-9/2016: €3,401.3 million). The group’s operating profit increased by 14% from €393.8 million to €450.6 million, improving the EBIT margin from 11.6% to 12.0%. Earnings after tax rose by 17% to €320.4 million (1-9/2016: €273.4 million).

Munich, October 24, 2017 – MTU Aero Engines’ Executive Board will be reorganized, with the number of members increasing from three to four. This has been decided by the company’s Supervisory Board at its meeting on October 24. Effective January 1, 2018, Peter Kameritsch (48) has been appointed Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer for a term of three years. Lars Wagner (42) will become the new Chief Operating Officer, also for a term of three years. Amsterdam, August 31, 2017 – On September 1, Alistair Dibisceglia takes over the role of Vice President and Head of Global Leasing at MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V in Amsterdam. In this role, Dibisceglia is responsible for commercial and technical activities. The contract for the airline’s four CF34-8E engines from their E170 aircraft covers maintenance, repair and overhaul, on-site services and guaranteed spare engine leasing availability.

Ludwigsfelde, July 6th, 2017 – MTU Maintenance, the world’s largest independent provider of maintenance services for LM series industrial gas turbines, has extended its exclusive contract with Sahacogen (Chonburi) Public Company Limited for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of its three LM6000PC gas turbines. The long-term service agreement is valued at over 35 million US dollars and runs until the end of 2023. It is the second extension the parties have signed in thirteen years.

Munich, July 4, 2017 – From fiscal year 2017 on, large companies are required to publish social and environmental performance reports. A new law to that effect had been adopted by the German parliament in spring. Germany’s leading engine manufacturer started to disclose such information long before the law was passed. Since 2011, it has released annual sustain-ability reports outlining in detail how responsibly and sustainably the MTU Group goes about its business. Now MTU is publishing its 2016 Sustainability Report, the fifth of its kind. Vancouver, April 6, 2017 – MTU Maintenance, one of the world’s leading providers of services for commercial aero engines, and MRO provider Barfield Inc. have extended their exclusive line replaceable units (LRUs) contract for the V2500 engine by a further five years. The agreement covers complete V2500 LRU Management, on a fixed price basis. The work will be performed at MTU’s Maintenance Shop in Richmond, Canada.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, April 4, 2017 -  On April 1, Wim van Beers became the new managing director of Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), a 50:50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines AG and Lufthansa Technik AG. Van Beers joins ASSB from MTU Maintenance, where he spent the past three and a half years as Vice President Marketing and Sales Asia. He follows Derrick Siebert who returns to Lufthansa Technik after 4 years of service at ASSB.

Munich, March 14, 2017 – The Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG today accepted the Executive Board’s proposal to raise the company’s dividend to €1.90 per share. This proposal, which represents an increase of 20 euro cents or 12% compared with the previous year’s dividend, will be presented to the voting members of the Annual General Meeting on May 4, 2017.

Munich, February 23, 2017 – MTU Aero Engines AG once again set new records in the financial year 2016. Revenues increased by 7% to a new high of €4,732.7 million (2015: €4,435.3 million). Operating profit reached €503.0 million, beating the previous year’s record by 14% (2015: €440.3 million). Earnings after tax surpassed the previous record of €306.9 million, set in 2015, growing by 13% to €345.4 million.

Berlin, February 21, 2017 – Lufthansa Technik and MTU Aero Engines are planning to set up a joint venture company for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of geared turbofan (GTF) engines, with each of the partners holding a 50-percent stake. An agreement to this effect was signed by the two companies in Berlin on February 20, after the feasibility of such a joint venture had been examined over the past few months. Subject to different approvals (e.g. by the relevant antitrust authorities) both parties act on the assumption of the joint venture foundation within the second half of 2017.

Hannover, January 26, 2017 – MTU Maintenance, one of the world’s leading providers of services for commercial aero engines, and their new customer BH Air have signed an exclusive maintenance contract for the airline’s V2500-A5 engines. Ludwigsfelde (Germany), November 28, 2016 – MTU Maintenance, the world’s largest independent provider for aero engine solutions, and Spanish airline Air Europa have signed an exclusive seven year contract for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of the airline’s CF34-10E engines. The contract between MTU Maintenance and Majorca-based Air Europa includes shop visits, on-site services and lease support as part of a customized solution tailored specifically to the airlines’ needs. The contract is valued at approximately USD 120 million and covers the 24 engines, including spares, used on the airline’s 11 E195 aircraft.

Kuala Lumpur, November 14, 2016 – Airfoil Service Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB), a 50:50 joint venture between MTU Aero Engines AG and Lufthansa Technik AG, has reached the quarter of a century milestone. Created in November 1991, the company looks back on an impressive record of high-tech achievements and commitment to the local industry and region. ASSB was initially a joint venture between MTU Maintenance (part of MTU Aero Engines) and Malaysian airlines. In 2003, MTU Aero Engines and Lufthansa Technik teamed up and each took on a 50% stake in the company. Over the last 13 years of MTU and LHT collaboration, around 350 local jobs have been created. Furthermore, ASSB has invested USD 22 million in state of the art technology, machinery and improving the working environment for employees. Munich, November 7, 2016 – With effect from the beginning of November, Gerhard Bähr has been appointed Director of MTU Aero Engines AG’s Erding engine maintenance facility. Over the past eight years, Bähr held the position of Director with responsibility for the TP400-D6 and Tyne – the military engines powering the A400M and Transall airlifters, respectively - at MTU’s headquarters in Munich. He succeeds Josef Arlt, who has decided to leave the company.

Zhuhai, November 4th, 2016 – MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, a 50/50 joint venture between Ger-many’s leading engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Air Holding Compa-ny,  has completed its 2,000th engine shop visit, a V2500-A5 owned by China Southern Airlines. The achievement will be celebrated in a small ceremony with representatives from both joint partners as well as employees.

The new technology cuts fuel burn and CO2 emissions by 16 percent and reduces noise footprint levels by 75 percent. But this is not where the research effort ends: Just recently, the LeiLa (Leiser Luftfahrtantrieb: quiet aircraft propulsion) project was successfully completed. The big players in the industry joined forces with partners from research and academe to develop innovative solutions already set to be incorporated into the next generation of engines – including the second-generation geared turbofan. MTU Maintenance has been chosen by Kenya Airways as one of its two contractors for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the CF34-10E6 engines for a period of five years.

The ten-year service agreement is valued at upwards of 100 million U.S. Dollars. According to the contract, MTU Maintenance will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of nine IGTs: five LM6000-PC and soon-to-be four LM6000-PD IGTs. The service agreement will cover both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance events, and provide on-site services.

Munich, Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 3 June, 2016 – MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V., a subsidiary of German aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, is enhancing its existing services through a cooperation with Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer Aviation International SAS. A new service was created and foresees the provision of spare lease engines and lease engine support services to Embraer’s E-jet operators in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. According to the agreement, MTU Maintenance Lease Services will act as Embraer’s recognized supplier of CF34-10E lease engines and lease support services.

Ludwigsfelde, April 26, 2016 – MTU Maintenance, one of the world’s leading providers of maintenance services for commercial engines and industrial gas turbines (IGTs), has extended its contract with Norwegian oil and gas company Statoil for its  General Electric LM industrial gas turbines. The seven-year agreement valued at more than 200 million U.S. dollars. Under the deal, MTU Maintenance will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) for parts of the largest commercial LM IGT fleet in the world,  which is operated offshore on Statoil’s oil platforms.

MTU will assemble about one third of all of the engines going into NEO jets. This is a pretty demanding task,” Winkler added.

European aircraft manufacturer Airbus delivered the first of the single-aisle jets incorporating the eco-efficient propulsion technology to Lufthansa. Vancouver (Canada), 21st December 2015 – Three years after the opening of the Accessory Repair Center (A.R.C.), MTU Maintenance Canada, is satisfied with the development of its business for accessory repair and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) management. Munich, October 23, 2015 – MTU Aero Engines will have a stake in the LM6000-PF+ (PF+), the latest version of General Electric’s (GE) LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbine series. Germany’s leading engine manufacturer has taken a 13-percent work share as a risk- and revenue-sharing partner in the development and production of this industrial gas turbine, which is derived from the CF6 aircraft engine. The PF+ offers higher gas turbine output (52-58 megawatts) and combined-cycle efficiency (56 percent) than other products in its class. For MTU, the stake in the program translates into expected revenues of around one billion euros over the entire lifecycle of the program.

MTUPlus Asset Value Maximization offers asset owners with a surplus engine different solutions which either optimize its usage if the asset can still be operated or maximize the material value through the remarketing of its individual parts.

Hannover (Germany), 23 September 2015 – MTU Maintenance, one of the top five engine MRO service providers worldwide, and AAR, a leading provider of aviation services to the global commercial and defense industries, have signed a contract that secures for MTU the supply of used material for PW2000 engines over the next five years.

Hannover (Germany), 02 September 2015 – Thanks to their long-term relationship, MTU Maintenance and the Turkish carrier Atlasglobal Airlines, formally known as Atlasjet Airlines, have extended their cooperation regarding the maintenance of Atlasglobal’s V2500 engines.  Over the next five years, MTU Maintenance will continue to provide the airline with exclusive MRO services for this engine type.

Munich, July 30, 2015 – MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer, has received approval from the Federal Aviation Office (LBA) to maintain the propulsion system powering the A400M military transport aircraft. This makes MTU the first of the partners in Europrop International (EPI), the TP400-D6 consortium, to hold such an unlimited license for the maintenance (in accordance with EASA 145 standards) of the entire propulsion system.

Munich, July 23, 2015—MTU Aero Engines AG saw its first-half-year revenues rise by 21% to €2,202.0 million in 2015 (1-6/14: €1,815.8 million). The group’s operating profit¹ grew by 25% to €212.8 million (1-6/14: €170.7 million), while the EBIT margin increased from 9.4% to 9.7%. Earnings after tax² climbed 33% to €147.2 million (1-6/14: €111.0 million).

The jubilee engine, a PW305A was delivered to Aero-Dienst GmbH & Co. KG, Germany’s second-oldest commercial operator and provider of business aviation services such as maintenance, operations, aircraft sales and aircraft management.

Munich, April 28, 2015—In the first quarter of 2015, MTU Aero Engines AG increased its revenues by 20% to €1.099,5 billion (1-3/14: €913.0 million). The group’s operating profit  rose by 10% to €97.7 million (1-3/14: €89.0 million). The EBIT margin amounted to 8.9%, compared with 9.7% for the same period in the previous year, and earnings after tax  increased by 22% to €68.2 million (1-3/14: €56.0 million).

Zhuhai (China), 11 March 2015 – MTU Maintenance is proud to announce that it has signed an exclusive eight-year maintenance agreement with Maldivian. The company, one of the leading engine maintenance providers worldwide, will provide Maldivian with MRO services for its CFM56-5B engines as well as engine lease support through MTU’s newly founded engine lease company MTU Maintenance Lease Services B.V. The engines contracted power Maldivian’s Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft which serve a growing number of destinations within Asia. MTU Maintenance will perform the engine overhaul at its Chinese location in Zhuhai.

Hannover (Germany), 4 March 2015 – MTU Maintenance, one of the leading maintenance providers for commercial aircraft engines worldwide, can count VECA (Vuelos Economicos de Centro America) Airlines, a start-up carrier from El Salvador, as a new customer for the maintenance of its V2500 engines. Under the exclusive agreement, MTU Maintenance will be responsible for the airline’s engine MRO as well as on-wing services and engine trend monitoring. Munich / Rzeszów, February 27, 2015 – MTU Aero Engines Polska keeps growing: Today, the Polish affiliate of MTU Aero Engines, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer, officially opened its new 10,000-square-meter building, which increases the built-up area by 50 percent. The total investment that went into the project amounts to some 40 million euros. The expansion of its location in Rzeszów in the south of Poland is part of MTU’s investment and growth strategy, very much in the same way as the new blisk production shop built in Munich and the new logistics centers set up in Hannover and in Munich. With the move, MTU is laying the foundation for the production and volume ramp-up for the new engine programs. The opening ceremony was attended by around 100 guests from politics, industry and science as well as by more than 500 employees of the company, which is located in the heart of Poland’s Aviation Valley.

Munich, February 12, 2015 – MTU Aero Engines AG has once again beaten its previous records. In the financial year 2014, revenues grew by 10% to a new all-time high of €3,913.9 million (2013: €3,574.1 million). MTU’s operating profit¹ rose from €377.4 million in 2013 to €382.7 million. Earnings after tax² amounted to €253.3 million (2013: €238.6 million), the highest-ever in the company’s 80-year history.

Zhuhai (China), 21 January 2015 – MTU Maintenance, one of the leading engine MRO providers worldwide, has signed an exclusive maintenance agreement with the Japanese low-cost carrier Solaseed Air which covers all 24 CFM56-7B and -7BE engines powering the airline’s fleet of 12 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The contract will run for twelve years and has a value of about 200 million Euros (260 million US dollars ). In addition to engine maintenance, MTU Maintenance will provide Solaseed Air with spare engine and on-site support. The engines will be overhauled at MTU Maintenance’s Asian location in Zhuhai, China. For MTU Maintenance, this is the largest agreement from a Japanese customer since the company entered the Japanese market in 2010.

Munich, December 12, 2014 – Dr. Stefan Weingartner (53), Member of the Executive Board of MTU Aero Engines AG and President MTU Maintenance, will leave the company on his own request in order to take on a new professional challenge. Against this background, the Supervisory Board of MTU Aero Engines AG has decided in its meeting today to reduce the Management Board to three Members. The tasks of Weingartner – who will accompany and support the change process – will be transferred to the other Board functions. The responsibility for the locations of MTU Maintenance will be combined in the leadership of Dr. Rainer Martens (53) as Chief Operating Officer. Sales and Marketing of MTU Maintenance will be integrated in the Board function of Programs headed by Michael Schreyoegg (48). The new structure will become effective at the beginning of 2015.

Munich, November 25, 2014 – At this year’s Investor & Analyst Day, MTU Aero Engines AG presented its business outlook for the next decade to 2024. The group aims to remain on its growth trajectory while at the same time continuing to improve its profitability. It plans to increase its adjusted EBIT margin and its free cash flow in the medium to long term. This goal is based on the expected development of revenues in its operating segments. As of 2018, MTU expects to see substantial growth in revenues from its most profitable activities, namely spare parts sales and maintenance. From this point onward, revenues from the less profitable series production business are likely to increase only slightly, and the military engine business will probably decline.

Munich, November 14, 2014 - MTU Aero Engines has concluded a strategic agreement with U.S. engine manufacturer GE Aviation on the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of the GEnx turbine center frame (TCF). The contract makes MTU the provider of MRO services for GEnx TCFs within the GE Aviation network. The GEnx powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and is the sole engine for the Boeing 747-8. The agreement covers the engine’s entire life cycle and is expected to be worth more than 3 billion euros in sales for Germany’s leading engine manufacturer.

Munich, October 23, 2014 – In the first nine months of 2014, MTU Aero Engines AG’s revenues grew by 6% to €2,811.6 million (1-9/2013: €2,659.6 million). The group generated an operating profit¹ of €270.9 million (1-9/2013: €267.8 million) and its EBIT margin came to 9.6% (1-9/2013: 10.1 %). Net income² increased by 5% to €178.3 million (1-9/2013: €169.1 million).

Munich, 14th October, 2014 – Today it has been announced that the PurePower® PW800 engines are the power behind the new Gulfstream G500 and G600 business jets. The rollout took place at Gulfstream Aerospace Corp.’s Georgia headquarters. MTU Aero Engines has a 15 percent workshare in Pratt & Whitney Canada’s (P&WC) PurePower PW800 engine program. Munich, August 7, 2014 – MTU Aero Engines is moving forward, with a deep sense of respect for humans and nature: Germany’s leading engine manufacturer has submitted its third Communication on Progress in line with the reporting guidelines issued by the UN Global Compact, in which the company provides an update on its activities to ensure the sustainability of its business. In the publication now released, MTU sets out its new climate strategy, which aims to achieve a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent. Earlier this year, MTU moreover introduced a Code of Conduct that requires all of its suppliers worldwide to comply with its policies.

These extremely complex telemetry runs, an official certification requirement for this module made by MTU, are considered one of the biggest challenges in engine testing.

Ludwigsfelde (Germany), May 14, 2014 – MTU Maintenance, one of the world’s leading providers of commercial aero engine maintenance, has signed a new contract with the state-owned Venezuelan carrier CONVIASA for engine overhaul and on-wing support services of its General Electric CF34-10 engines including lease engine services. Under the exclusive contract, MTU Maintenance will be responsible for the maintenance of all CF34-10 engines powering CONVIASA’s ERJ-190 fleet.

Munich, April 29, 2014 – The results reported by MTU Aero Engines AG for the first quarter 2014 are in line with the previous year. Group revenues remained stable at €913.0 million (1-3/13: €906.0 million). MTU’s operating profit¹ in the first three months of 2014 amounted to €89.0 million (1-3/13: €88.3 million), resulting in an unchanged EBIT margin of 9.7%. Earnings after tax² also reached the previous year’s level, and amounted to €56.0 million (1-3/13: €55.5 million).

Munich, April 4, 2014 – In late March, Germany’s leading engine manufacturer laid the foundation stone for a purpose-built, advanced logistics center on its company premises in Munich. Starting in January 2015, the brand new two-story building with a surface area of 4,400 square meters will concentrate the tasks of 115 employees from incoming goods, customs and foreign trade and receiving inspection. The total investment for the innovative center, including equipment, is some ten million euros.

Rzeszów, Munich, April 1, 2014 – Five years ago, in April 2009, MTU Aero Engines Polska started production of the first engine components for Germany’s leading engine manufacturer. Today the development of MTU Aero Engines' facility in Rzesów is an unprecedented story of success and growth. The facility started operations with about 200 employees, today MTU Aero Engines Polska has a highly skilled workforce of about 500 people. In the field of aero engine construction, Munich-based MTU Aero Engines has achieved a breakthrough: As one of the first companies to use the new technique, MTU produced components for production engines this past May. These parts - borescope bosses for the PurePower® PW1100G-JM engine, the Pratt & Whitney engine to power the A320neo – are made by selective laser melting, or SLM.

Munich, February 18, 2014 – MTU Aero Engines AG has built on the record year of 2012 with its business figures for 2013: MTU improved its all-time high in revenues to €3,741.7 million (2012: €3,378.6 million), and is thus fully in line with its revenue forecast of around €3.7 billion. Earnings matched the record level of 2012: At €377.3 million, operating profit¹ clearly met its target of around €375 million (2012: €375.2 million). The return on sales amounted to 10.1% compared with 11.1% in 2012. At €232.1 million, MTU generated earnings after tax² of around €235.0 million as planned (2012: €234.0 million).

Munich, Germany, November 29, 2013 – The European Union’s new technology programme ENOVAL (ENgine mOdule VALidators) has been launched. Recently more than 140 representatives from the aerospace industry, from research and academic institutions as well as from the European Commission came together in Freising, near Munich, to kick-off the programme. In this project, which is led by MTU Aero Engines, 35 European partners are jointly developing new technologies for medium-sized, large and very large turbofan aero engines. The aim is to achieve reductions in CO₂ emissions of up to five percent and in noise of up to 1.3 decibels.

Munich / London, November 26, 2013 – MTU Aero Engines AG anticipates strong growth in its new engine business, based on higher delivery volumes in 2014. Revenues in this segment are expected to rise at a mid-teens percentage figure. According to forecasts, the spare parts business, which is much more profitable than the new engine business, will grow moderately in the mid-single-digit percentage range next year. Traditionally, earnings in the aircraft engine business are higher in later program life-cycle phases when the demand for maintenance, repair and overhaul services as well as for spare parts goes up.

Munich, Riyadh, November 15, 2013 – The leading Saudi Arabian engine maintenance company Middle East Propulsion Company has strengthened its position as a provider of military engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the whole of the Middle East region. Today, barely four years later after MTU’s acquisition of a 19-percent share in 2009, MEPC’s product portfolio has been continuously extended. The Middle East Propulsion Company has expanded its module maintenance work by winning contracts for the RB199, the engine powering the RSAF Tornado fleet.

Munich, October 31, 2013 – MTU Aero Engines AG signed a new syndicated credit facility for 400 million euros, thus securing the group’s funding in the long term. The loan agreement with a syndicate consisting of five banks runs for five years and includes an option to extend the agreement for two years. This funding, which is used for general corporate purposes, is prematurely replacing the previous credit line of 100 million euros falling due in December 2015.

Net income² amounted to € 166.3 million after € 173.1 million in the equivalent period last year.

Munich, October 10, 2013 - MTU Aero Engines AG’s Supervisory Board today unanimously voted to extend the contract with Chief Financial Officer Reiner Winkler. The new, five-year contract will run from October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2019. On January 1, 2014, Winkler will take over the helm of MTU Aero Engines AG as its new Chief Executive Officer, a role he will serve in addition to his duties as CFO.

Munich (Germany)/Tokyo (Japan)/Amsterdam (The Netherlands), 17 September 2013 – MTU Maintenance, the world’s largest independent maintenance provider for commercial aircraft engines, and Japan-based Sumitomo Corporation, one of the largest trading companies worldwide, have created two new joint venture companies to jointly expand their business with the leasing of commercial aircraft engines.

Hannover/Berlin (Germany), 08th August 2013 – MTU Maintenance, the world’s largest independent maintenance provider for commercial aircraft engines, has completed the 1,500th overhaul of a General Electric CF6-80 engine. The engine was delivered to  U.S. based operator US Airways with whom MTU is celebrating a 20-year business partnership this year.

Munich, July 25th, 2013 - MTU Aero Engines AG’s supervisory board voted to extend chief operating officer Dr. Rainer Martens’ contract. Martens has been a member of MTU’s board of management since April 15, 2006, with overall responsibility for engineering and production. The contract renewal is for a term of five years, commencing on April 15, 2014.

Munich, July 24, 2013 – MTU Aero Engines AG increased its revenues by 19 % to € 1,852.2 million in the first six months of 2013 (1-6/2012: € 1,559.0 million). Operating profit¹ for the period came to € 171.7 million (1-6/2012: € 175.8 million), which corresponds to an EBIT margin of 9.3 % (1-6/2012: 11.3 %). The group’s net income² amounted to € 105.1 million, compared with € 109.7 million in the first six months of 2012.

Munich / Rzeszów, June 25, 2013 – MTU Aero Engines is expanding its facility in Rzeszów in the south of Poland: MTU Aero Engines Polska, located in the Polish Aviation Valley, will add a new, 9,200-square-meter building, which will increase the area occupied by buildings by 50 percent. Paris, June 20, 2013 – MTU Aero Engines has achieved numerous new contracts at this year’s Paris Air Show. Germany’s leading engine manufacturer records orders worth more than 1.3 billion US dollars (around 1 billion euros) at the event in Le Bourget. Over three-fourths of the more than 1,300 engines ordered are of the PW1000G family, which offer a lower fuel burn and are very quiet. “This is an impressive proof that the eco-efficiency of flying is increasingly becoming a major priority, and that the geared turbofan engine has firmly established itself as the new propulsion concept in the marketplace,” commented MTU CEO Egon Behle.

Munich, June 14, 2013 – The PW306D is the latest addition to Pratt & Whitney Canada’s successful PW300 engine family. Now Transport Canada Civil Aviation has approved type certification for the turbofan. Munich, October 13, 2011 - MTU Aero Engines intends to increase its share in the International Aero Engines (IAE) consortium. This move is expected to follow an agreement between Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce on the restructuring of the IAE consortium, which markets the highly successful V2500 engines for Airbus A320 family aircraft. Rolls-Royce will sell its stake in IAE to Pratt & Whitney, which in turn will pass on parts of this share to MTU Aero Engines.

Munich, September 28, 2011 - MTU Aero Engines has taken an 18-percent share in the PurePower PW1100G-JM engine program which is currently being developed for the emerging Airbus A320neo aircraft family. This has been agreed between MTU, JAEC and Pratt & Whitney, the leading OEM partner company in this program. According to the agreement, MTU will also take on a portion of the final engine assembly and test of the PW1100G - a new role for MTU in a high-volume commercial engine program.

Beijing, China, September 22, 2011 – MTU Maintenance Zhuhai and Japanese Skynet Asia Airways (SNA) will be cooperating on the maintenance of CFM56-7 engines operated by the airline. A contract to this effect was inked by Toshio Kurokawa, General Manager, Maintenance and Engineering, SNA, and Holger Sindemann, President MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, at the Aviation Expo China this Thursday, September 22. The agreement now concluded runs for an initial five years; if renewed for another five years, it will cover the engines powering 13 Boeing 737NG jets that are currently going into service with the Japanese airline.

Beijing, China, September 22, 2011 – MTU Aero Engines will soon use finished parts made in China to manufacture commercial engine components. On Thursday, September 22, 2011, Germany's leading engine manufacturer and the Chinese company Xi’an Aero-Engine (XAE) concluded a deal for the supply of 52 finished parts, which will go into commercial engine models. The contract was signed by MTU's Senior Vice President Procurement and Logistics, Theodor Pregler, and XAE's Vice President, Yan Guozhi, at this year's Aviation Expo China in Beijing.

Beijing, September 21, 2011 – MTU Aero Engines of Germany and the Chinese engine manufacturer AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co. Ltd. (ACAE) have signed an agreement on key terms for a possible cooperation on the future CJ1000 engine. CJ stands for ChangJiang the Chinese name for the river Yangtse meaning continuity for the future – the basis for the relationship.

Hanover, Germany, September 12, 2011 – MTU Maintenance Hannover has succeeded in winning its first GE90 maintenance customers: Air New Zealand, Southern Air and V Australia will have their GE90-110Bs and -115Bs supported by MTU. The engines are powering the Boeing 777s operated by these airlines. The contracts have a combined value of approximately 550 million U.S. dollars.

Hanover, Germany, and Norwalk, Connecticut, September 12, 2011 – Southern Air Holdings, Inc. has awarded MTU Maintenance Hannover an exclusive 12-year maintenance and spare engine support contract covering all present and future GE90-110B engines in Southern Air’s 777 Freighter fleet. The two companies also entered into an agreement under which MTU will provide maintenance and spare engine support to Southern Air’s CF6-80 engines for the multiple GE-powered 747-400s it will be adding to its fleet starting next year. MTU expects this multi-year partnership will generate at least 150 million Euros in revenues over the lifetime of the agreement.

Hanover, Germany, September 12, 2011 – MTU Maintenance Hannover has been successful in adding a new airline from Australia to its growing customer base: V Australia will send its fleet of GE90 Growth engines powering its Boeing five 777-300ER fleet to Hanover for maintenance. The carrier, a subsidiary of the Virgin Australia group of airlines, has signed a long term agreement with the German engine MRO specialist.

Munich, August 24, 2011 – MTU Aero Engines kicked off GEnx turbine center frame deliveries on Wednesday, August 24, when it handed the first production module over to GE Aviation. In a last bolt ceremony held at MTU in Munich, Rhonda Sample, Manager Manufacturing Programs at GE Aviation officially took delivery of the module from MTU CEO Egon Behle. Thus, deliveries of this MTU module for the U.S. manufacturer's fast-selling new engine started on time. Plans are to ramp up production to be able to ship one turbine center frame a day.

Munich, August 1, 2011 – In the first half of 2011, MTU Aero Engines Holding AG boosted its operating profit¹ by 14 % to € 164.0 million (1-6/2010: € 144.1 million). “That's the best half-year result in the history of MTU,” said Egon Behle, CEO of MTU Aero Engines Holding AG, “and it is reason for us to revise our full-year forecast upward. Munich, February 23, 2011 – MTU Aero Engines exceeded its earnings forecast for the financial year 2010. Operating profit¹ increased by 7 % from € 292.3 million in 2009 to € 311.3 million, which is higher than the earnings forecast of € 310 million that had been revised upward in the course of the year. MTU also improved its return on sales by 0.3 percentage points to 11.5 %, once again demonstrating the company's high level of profitability. Hanover, December 2, 2010 – Reliable service pays off: Brazilian airline TAM Linhas Aéreas S/A has placed a follow-on contract to an agreement it originally concluded with MTU Maintenance Hannover back in 1999. Under this new agreement, the company will provide maintenance services for another 57 V2500 engines powering the carrier's A320-family aircraft, in addition to the 84 engines covered by the earlier agreement. The exclusive contract runs until mid-2019 and will generate over 500 million Euros (700 million U.S. dollar) in additional revenues.

Hannover, Germany, November 11, 2010 – MTU Maintenance Hannover is pleased to welcome back a valued former customer: Royal Jordanian Airlines, one of the most prestigious airlines in the Middle East, has awarded the Langenhagen-based company an exclusive contract for the maintenance of 26 V2500 engines from its fleet of A320-family aircraft. The contract will run until March 2014.

Munich, October 26, 2010 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG's nine-month results 2010 show the company is well on its way to achieving its targets for the year as a whole. Revenues increased by 2% to € 1,992.3 million after € 1,954.9 in the previous year. MTU boosted its earnings¹ by 7% to € 226.1 million (1-9/09: € 210.8 million). At 11.3%, the EBIT margin was up 0.5 percentage points compared with the same period in 2009, while the company's net income improved by 7% to € 99.6 million
(1-9/09: € 93.4 million).

Munich / Appleton, U.S.A., September 17, 2010 – MTU Aero Engines continues to strengthen its repair activities: In early September, the company's U.S. operation in Appleton, Wisconsin received the FAA's approval as a certified repair station. "With the approval now obtained, we can offer on-wing services for CF34 engines also to customers in the U.S.," says Dr. Stefan Weingartner, President and CEO, Commercial Maintenance. Munich, July 27, 2010 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG has posted successful results for the first six months of 2010, with revenues amounting to € 1,348.8 million, compared with first-half-year revenues of € 1,376.0 million in 2009. Operating profit¹ has improved by 5% to € 144.1 million (1-6/09: € 137.1 million). At 10.7%, the EBIT margin is 0.7 percentage points higher than the figure for the equivalent period one year earlier. Net income increased by 9% from € 55.7 million in the first six months of 2009 to € 60.6 million. The net income figure reflects the lower financial result attributable to currency translation differences at the reporting date.

Farnborough, July 22, 2010 – This year's international airshow in Farnborough near London opened with excellent news for the entire aviation industry. A number of profitable deals were announced on the very first trade days of the event in Great Britain. MTU Aero Engines, too, will benefit from numerous orders coming in: The three carriers China Southern Airlines, Yemen Airways (Yemenia) and Vietnam Airlines have selected the V2500 to power their A320-family aircraft, with some of the contracts including long-term aftermarket services agreements.

Munich, April 20, 2010 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG generated revenues of € 640.2 million in the first quarter of 2010 (1-3/09: € 693.1 million). The Group’s operating profit¹ amounted to € 68.8 million at the end of March 2010, compared with a first-quarter result of € 75.2 million in 2009. The EBIT margin has remained stable at 10.7 % (1-3/09: 10.8 %). MTU’s net income for the three-month period improved by 5 % from € 31.0 million in 2009 to € 32.6 million in 2010.

Munich, February 24, 2010 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG has fully met its business forecasts for the financial year 2009. This was announced at the company’s annual press conference on February 24, 2010. MTU reported revenues of € 2,610.8 million (2008: € 2,724.3 million), in line with the targeted level of around € 2.6 billion. MTU generated an operating profit (EBIT adjusted) of € 292.3 million (2008: € 331.0 million), which is slightly higher than the upwardly revised forecast of approximately € 290 million.

Munich, February 8, 2010 – For MTU Aero Engines, the 2010 Singapore Airshow proved a profitable event: Just a few days before the event officially opened, Germany's leading engine manufacturer had already benefited from a major V2500 engine order placed with International Aero Engines (IAE); now the engine consortium has announced more contracts it received over the course of the trade show. For MTU, which holds an 11-percent share in IAE, these deals translate into sales worth about 65 million euros.

Munich, November 27, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines is stepping up its activities in China and will be cooperating with Chinese engine manufacturer AVIC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co. Ltd. (ACAE). In a first step, ACAE and MTU will conduct a joint study to explore options of building a domestic aircraft engine industry in China. The study aims to evaluate what structure a local engine company should adopt to be viable and what technologies will be needed for emerging engines to be successful in the Chinese market.

The EBIT margin for this period came to 10.8%, based on an operating profit¹ of €210.8 million (1-9/2008: €238.9 million). Net income to the end of September 2009 amounted to €93.4 million (1-9/2008: €118.6 million).

Munich, October 21, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines benefits from a big Dreamliner contract: American Airlines will equip 42 Boeing 787s on firm order with GEnx engines and another 58 aircraft if they exercise the option they have reserved. In all, the complete deal would involve 220 engines. Germany's leading engine manufacturer develops and produces the turbine center frame for this GE engine. For the company the engine deliveries to American Airlines will translate into revenues of 70 million euros, with up to 80 million euros expected to come from the option orders.

Munich, Germany, October 5, 2009 – The U.S. Air Force (USAF) has awarded a team that includes MTU Maintenance a nine-year contract to provide Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) for its fleet of KC-10 Extender refueling tanker aircraft. MTU will provide engine depot maintenance, engineering, field service support and engine condition monitoring for the fleet of 204 CF6-50C2 engines flown by the USAF. Over the life of the agreement, MTU expects the deal to generate sales in the amount of more than 300 million euros ($500 million).

Hannover, September 25, 2009 – Over the past few weeks, MTU Maintenance Hannover has succeeded in winning engine maintenance business worth a total of some 50 million euros. The contract with the biggest single order volume was awarded by Air New Zealand. Hamburg, Germany, September 23, 2009 – For MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, the CF34 engine has become an ongoing success story. The company has now renewed a license agreement with GE Aviation, an operating unit of General Electric (GE), for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of the CF34-3, -8 and -10 engine versions long before the contract period expired. The agreement, originally signed in 2002 for a term of ten years, is now set to run until 2022. Over the life of the agreement, MTU expects the deal to generate sales in the amount of more than 500 million euros.

Munich, July 31, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines will benefit substantially from the contract for the Tranche 3A production order for the Eurofighter/Typhoon, which has now been concluded. Germany's leading engine manufacturer has a 30-percent workshare in the production of the EJ200 engine powering Europe's most powerful fighter aircraft. The first Tranche 3 contract is for 112 aircraft and 241 engines. MTU expects to reap about 250 million euros in revenues from the deal.

Munich, July 23, 2009 – For the first six months of 2009, MTU Aero Engines Holding AG reports a 10% increase in revenues to €1,376.0 million (1-6/08: €1,256.1 million). Excluding the effect of the U.S. dollar exchange rate, revenues have remained almost stable (down 2%). New order intake increased by 17% to €1,304.9 million (1-6/08: €1,119.0 million). Operating profit¹ for the six-month period amounted to €137.1 million (1-6/2008: €156.8 million).

Le Bourget, June 16, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines will take a stake in Saudi Arabia-based Middle East Propulsion Company (MEPC). The deal was announced by Germany's leading engine manufacturer at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget today. According to MTU CEO Egon Behle, a contract has already been signed: "This is a first important step for us towards building a presence in the Middle East, considering that this is a region of growing importance. With this development in mind, we have decided to acquire a stake in MEPC."

Le Bourget, June 16, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines will benefit from a big A380 order: At the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, Etihad Airways announced that it will equip ten Airbus A380s on firm order and another ten on option with GP7000 engines, in which MTU has a stake of 22.5 percent. The firm order covers 44 engines plus spare engines. For Germany's leading engine manufacturer, this translates into sales of around 140 million euros. First aircraft deliveries to the United Arab Emirates' national airline are scheduled for 2013.

Munich, May 18, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines will pull out of its production activities in the U.S.: Germany's leading engine manufacturer sells the manufacturing unit of MTU Aero Engines North America (AENA) to U.S.-based EDAC Technologies. The contract was signed late last week. The transaction will not affect MTU's revenue and profit forecast for the year, nor will it have an impact on the engine programs pursued jointly with its partners.

Langenhagen, Germany, April 27, 2009 – At the moment, MTU Maintenance Hannover has two good reasons to celebrate: In the 30th year of its existence, the company just maintained the 5,000th engine visiting its shop, a CFM56-7 off the wing of a Boeing 737-800 from TUIfly airline's fleet. After repair and overhaul, the engine was now returned to its owner. In a small celebration, it was handed over to Claus Sülflow, TUIfly's Director Technical Services. 

Munich, April 23, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG has reported a 10% improvement in revenues to €693.1 million for the first quarter of 2009 (1-3/08: €630.0 million). Discounting the effect of the U.S. dollar exchange rate, revenues decreased by 2%. Operating profit¹ amounted to €75.2 million, compared with €80.0 million in the first three months of 2008. This reduction is mainly attributable to higher research and development expenses, in addition to the impact of the present market situation. The EBIT margin for this three-month period amounted to 10.8%, which slightly exceeds the level expected by MTU for the full year.

Munich, March 23, 2009 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG has fully met and even exceeded its forecasts for the financial year 2008. This was announced at the company’s annual results press conference on Monday, March 23, 2009. MTU reported a 6% increase in revenues to €2,724.3 million (2007: €2,575.9 million), thereby exceeding the upwardly revised forecast of €2,650 million that had been published in the course of the year. Without the U.S. dollar exchange rate effect, this increase would have amounted to an even higher 12%.

Munich, December 19, 2008 - MTU Aero Engines is taking an approximate 6.6 percent role in General Electric's GEnx engine to power the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental airliner and the Boeing 747-8 Freighter. Germany's leading engine manufacturer will be manufacturing and assuming design responsibility for the engine's turbine center frame. MTU figures the deal can be worth over 11 billion euros in revenue, taken over the life of the program. About 1,150 engines are already on firm order or option.

Munich, December 3, 2008 -  MTU Maintenance in November has been awarded nine contracts worth about 500 million euros and came on strong in a hotly contested market. "The deals we made again demonstrate that amid a difficult economic environment, MTU remains competitive and well positioned," commented Egon Behle, CEO of MTU Aero Engines. The agreements signed in part are long-term, up to ten-year arrangements covering V2500, CF6 and PW2000 engines. They mostly come from the United States and Europe.

At September 30, 2008, revenues amounted to €1,982.9 million, 5% higher than at the end of the equivalent period a year earlier (1-9/07: €1,886.8 million). After adjustments for the U.S. dollar exchange rate, revenues increased by 17%. MTU’s earnings continued to improve as well, with adjusted EBITDA¹ reaching €295.0 million, which is 5% up on the same period in 2007 (1-9/07: €280.8 million). The EBITDA margin at the end of September came to 14.9%, as in the previous year. Net income has remained stable at €118.6 million (1-9/07: €117.0 million).

Munich, October 15, 2008 - MTU Aero Engines has just passed another significant milestone when yesterday, in France's Toulouse, an Airbus A340 for the first time took off with a PW1000G Geared Turbofan^TM engine demonstrator on its wing. The demonstrator completed the flight, about two hours in duration, without a hitch. Germany's leading engine manufacturer contributes the high-pressure compressor plus a key component, the high-speed low-pressure turbine, to the innovative geared turbofan concept. The engine program is being pursued jointly by Pratt & Whitney and MTU. The new propulsion concept will provide drastic improvements in fuel burn, CO2 emission, engine noise, and maintenance cost.

Manchester, Great Britain, October 9, 2008 -  MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg celebrates a new addition to its engine portfolio: the company expands its services as an Authorized GE CF34TM Service Provider to include the CF34-10E engine. Certification covering support for the GE powerplant was awarded by EASA/FAA. Overall, the MRO experts now have the entire in-service CF34 family in their portfolio.

Ludwigsfelde, Germany, October 8, 2008 – MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg is broadening its service offerings: in partnership with Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services GmbH at Schönefeld, the engine specialists are now offering complete maintenance packages for Bombardier Learjet 60 business aircraft and their PW305A engines. The agreement was signed at Ludwigsfelde.

Munich, September 26, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines has launched a new cost-reduction initiative intended to save 50 million euros annually, the bulk of it already in 2010. This follows from an announcement MTU CEO Egon Behle made at today's Analyst and Investor Day the company held in Munich. Behle reaffirmed the company's 2008 forecast and expects MTU to remain on its profitable growth track even in a troubled market environment.

Munich, July 22, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG has once again improved its earnings in the half year up to the end of June 2008, reporting EBITDA¹ of €194.5 million. This represents an increase of 8% compared with the equivalent period in 2007 (1-6/07: €181.0 million). The company has improved its EBITDA margin by 1.1 percentage points to 15.5%. Net income for the six-month period rose by 79% to €80.4 million (1-6/07: €45.0 million).

Farnborough, July 15, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines has set another first: Germany's leading engine manufacturer has secured for itself an 18 percent role as a program participant in the GE38 helicopter engine. "For the first time, MTU acts as a development participant in a U.S. military engine program," declares MTU CEO Egon Behle. In previous U.S. military engine programs, MTU has been involved in manufacturing roles only. Under the GE38 deal, the German engine builder will be responsible mainly for the power turbine module and moreover have the license for maintenance, final assembly and testing as well as MRO for the GE38 models used in European heavy lift helicopters.

Zhuhai, China, July 9, 2008 -  Effective July 1, 2008, Holger Sindemann (40) has taken the position of President and CEO of MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, a joint venture of MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Airlines. In this role, he succeeds Walter Strakosch, who will take over as Senior Vice President Business Development MRO at MTU. Sindemann has been serving as MTU Aero Engines' Senior Vice President Corporate Development since the beginning of 2006.

Munich, June 26, 2008 – More power and less emissions: General Electric (GE) has uprated its LM6000 gas turbine and unveiled two derivative models — the LM6000-PG with single annular combustor and the LM6000-PH with a dry low emissions combustor. MTU Aero Engines, Germany's leading engine manufacturer, is a risk-and-revenue sharing partner of GE with 13 percent share of the LM6000 program and the new derivative models. "Including spare part sales, that adds up to sales of 1.2 billion euros through the life of the contract," explains Dr. Anton Binder, senior vice president, commercial programs at MTU.

Berlin, May 27, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines has secured a 15 percent stake each in the new PW810 and the Geared TurbofanTM engine for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet. MTU CEO Egon Behle announced the deal in Berlin on Tuesday, May 27, the first day of the ILA International Aerospace Exhibition. Both engines are predicted to come with a substantial market potential. "We expect sales over the whole program life valued at up to about five billion euros to MTU for either model," Behle said at a joint press briefing with Pratt & Whitney. The contracts have already been signed. 

Munich, April 24, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG improved its EBITDA¹ by 9% in the first three months of 2008, from €90.6 million in the equivalent period of 2007 to €98.3 million. The EBITDA margin increased by 1.5 percentage points to 15.6%. Revenues of €630.0 million were generated in the first three months of 2008, remaining close to the previous year’s level (1-3/07: €640.6 million). After adjustments for the U.S. dollar exchange rate, revenues increased by 10%.

Munich, April 21, 2008 – MTU Aero Engines in April recorded an unusually high volume of orders under its V2500 program stake: its share in the 218-engine deals amounts to 185 million U.S. dollars, or about 117 million euros at current rates of exchange. The engines power Airbus A320 jetliners to be delivered primarily to US Airways, Hainan Airlines and British Airways in the years ahead.

Revenues are expected to remain at the previous year’s level, which corresponds to a growth rate of approximately 6% after adjustments for the effect of the U.S. dollar exchange rate. MTU anticipates that adjusted EBITDA¹ in 2008 will remain close to the previous year’s level of €390 million, despite a significant increase in research and development and the effects of the U.S. dollar exchange rate. Munich, December 20, 2007 – Debut at MTU Aero Engines: Germany's leading engine manufacturer is the first company worldwide to repair a component by patching, hand it over to the customer and obtain approval for the innovative repair technique. In December, a repaired blisk from a low-pressure turbine of the Eurofighter's EJ200 engine was delivered to the National Quality Assurance Office for aviation equipment.

Munich, October 25, 2007 – In the first nine months of 2007, MTU Aero Engines Holding AG further improved its earnings, thus sustaining the positive trend. Adjusted EBITDA¹ increased by 22% to €280.8 million (1-9/06: €230.4 million). The company’s EBITDA margin increased to 14.9%, up two percentage points compared with 2006. Underlying net income² made similarly positive progress, increasing by 17% to €102.5 million (1-9/06: €87.9 million). Munich, October 18, 2007 – Dr. Stefan Weingartner (46) will become MTU Aero Engines' new President and CEO, Commercial Maintenance, effective November 1, 2007. MTU's Supervisory Board nominated him to the position in a meeting held in the evening of October 18, 2007. Weingartner succeeds Bernd Kessler, who will join Switzerland-based aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul company SR Technics to become its CEO.

Zhuhai, China, October 1, 2007 – MTU Maintenance Zhuhai has won its first major European customer: The company has signed a contract with Norwegian Air Shuttle for the maintenance of CFM56-3 engines. The five years contract includes 44 engines powering Boeing 737-300 aircraft operated by the airline and is worth in excess of €90m euros.

Jakarta, August 29, 2007 – MTU Maintenance has signed a joint operation agreement with the Indonesian maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider Garuda Maintenance Facilities (GMF) AeroAsia, a 1.25-million-square-meter facility: As a strategic partner, MTU Maintenance will take care of CFM56-3 engine MRO activities for the Indonesian market jointly with GMF AeroAsia. Besides the engines of the 37-aircraft B737 Classic fleet of Garuda Indonesia, also engines of other GMF customers will be maintained. Garuda Indonesia is Indonesia's largest airline and the 100-percent owner of GMF AeroAsia.

Munich, August 20, 2007 – MTU Aero Engines intends to repurchase about 1 million additional own shares within the next six months. This has been decided by the company’s management board, after MTU had surpassed the level of holding 5 percent of its shares during the last week (as published on August 17, 2007). Since June 2006, the company has repurchased about 2,8 million of its shares.

Munich, July 25, 2007 – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG achieved 8% growth to the end of June 2007, as expected. Revenues increased from €1,170.0 million (1-6/06) to €1,260.6 million (1-6/07) during this period. The group expects to sustain this same growth rate through to the end of the year. MTU’s earnings improved at an above-average rate: Adjusted EBITDA¹ amounted to €181.0 million at June 30, 2007, thus exceeding the equivalent figure for the first 6 months of 2006 (1-6/06: €146.3 million) by 24%. Similarly positive results were reported for adjusted net income², which increased by 10% from €55.5 million to €61.0 million. And this despite the fact that adjusted net income for the first six months of 2007 includes a non-recurring charge for the early redemption premium in connection with the high-yield bond. Excluding this exceptional charge, the increase would have amounted to 31%.
 

Munich, July 24, 2007 – Egon W. Behle (51) will become Munich-based MTU Aero Engines Holding AG's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective the beginning of 2008. The Supervisory Board of the MDAX-listed company nominated him to the position of CEO by unanimous vote on Tuesday, July 24. His term of office will run for three years. Behle, who has a degree in aerospace engineering, comes from ZF Lenksysteme GmbH in Schwäbisch Gmünd, where he has served as CEO since 2002. He succeeds Udo Stark (59), who had announced in March that now that he was turning 60, he opted not to renew his contract with MTU, which expires at year's end.

Munich, July 18, 2007 – 15 percent, 20 percent, 30 percent – in three steps to climate-friendlier air traffic: MTU Aero Engines, in partnership with Bauhaus Luftfahrt, today unveiled an ambitious program designed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of aircraft engines. Its Clean Air Engine (Claire) technology project is to lower CO2 emissions by as much as 30 percent by 2035. Dr. Rainer Martens, executive vice president and chief operating officer (COO), at a Munich press briefing announced that by 2025, a 20-percent reduction may well have become a reality.

Kota Damansara - Reflecting the present boom in the Asian and worldwide aerospace market, Airfoil Services Sdn. Bhd. (ASSB) of Malaysia is expanding its engine parts repair capacity: the joint venture company between MTU Aero Engines and Lufthansa Technik with around 350 employees at present has moved to a new production facility at Kota Damansara near Kuala Lumpur. Over 250 new jobs have been created so far through the expansion and the product portfolio is to be extended further. The new, state-of-the-art production facility was opened on June 28 in the presence of local representatives of industry and government.

MTU CEO Udo Stark was pleased to announce orders worth a total of 400 million euros. "The size of these orders underscores the significance the world's largest air show has for MTU," he said.

Munich, May 29, 2007 – MTU Aero Engines is going to build a new foreign location in Rzeszów, in the southeast of Poland. This has been decided by the board of management of Germany's leading engine manufacturer today. The new site is intended to develop, manufacture and repair engine components. MTU will invest about 50 million euros in the new company within the next three years, which will be named MTU Aero Engines Polska. Starting in 2011, the cost advantages of the new facility will add some 15 million euros annually to the group's earnings. The decision still needs approval by the MTU supervisory board.

Langenhagen, Germany – Off we go: On Wednesday, May 16, the foundation stone was laid at MTU Maintenance Hannover in Langenhagen for a new test cell. Lower Saxony's minister president Christian Wulff performed the ceremony alongside company representatives—headed by MTU executive vice president and COO Dr. Rainer Martens—and regional president Hauke Jagau. The senior politician told the blue-chip guests from politics, industry and science: "Lower Saxony's state government is enthused with this significant investment in Hannover. It clears the path for further growth at the location. MTU is a highly innovative company that closely cooperates with companies and research institutions in all of Lower Saxony. The investment again testifies to the amazing competence of Lower Saxony's aviation technology."

Ludwigsfelde – André Sinanian (37) has been appointed vice president CF34 program. At MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg in Germany's Ludwigsfelde he will be responsible effective May 1 for the marketing, sales and customer service of the maintenance effort for that engine. Sinanian studied aerospace engineering and since 1999 has been with MTU Aero Engines, most recently in the corporate development department of MTU's Munich headquarters.   

Munich –MTU Aero Engines Holding AG generated significantly increased revenues and earnings in the first quarter of 2007, sustaining the momentum of the strong performance in 2006. Revenues improved by 12% in the first three months of 2007, rising to €640.6 million (1-3/06: €574.5 million). MTU’s earnings rose significantly, with adjusted EBITDA¹ reaching €90.6 million – an increase of 32% compared with the €68.8 million earned in the first three months of 2006. Adjusted net income² for the first quarter 2007, at €26.1 million, remained more or less unchanged compared with the same period in 2006, when it amounted to €25.8 million. This year, however, it includes a nonrecurring charge for the early redemption premium in connection with the high-yield bond. Excluding this exceptional charge, adjusted net income increased by 45% to €37.5 million in the first quarter 2007.

Munich - MTU Aero Engines, Germany's leading engine manufacturer and one of the world's major players in the industry, will for the first time exhibit this year at the Aerospace Testing Expo, March 27-29, in Munich. "What we hope to do is better market the testing competencies we've built over decades of commercial and military engine development," says Dr Sorina Seitz, who heads up Commercial Programs Supply Business at MTU. For the purpose, she continues to explain, the Munich exposition is the proper platform.

Munich – MTU Aero Engines has increased its stake in General Electric Company’s (GE) F414 military jet engine, and also secured a stake in the predecessor engine model, the F404. As a risk- and revenue-sharing participant Germany's leading engine manufacturer now holds a 3.5 percent share in the F414 – up from 2.5 percent previously. In addition, MTU has taken an approximate 1.5 percent share in the F404.

Munich – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG expects sustained growth in 2007. Revenues are targeted to rise by 8% to €2,600 million and adjusted EBITDA by 15% to €365 million. This forecast was announced by MTU on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the annual press conference.

Hannover – MTU Aero Engines has received the largest maintenance contract in its annals: JetBlue Airways extended the term of the contract concluded with MTU Maintenance Hannover in 2005 from 10 to 15 years. The contract is worth 1.7 billion euros. That brings the overall JetBlue contract value to 2.4 billion euros. Totally, the maintenance order backlog of Germany's leading engine manufacturer now stands at more than five billion euros.

Hannover – MTU Maintenance Hannover will have a new president and chief executive officer when on March 1, 2007, Dr. Uwe Blöcker takes the helm of the company. He succeeds Ferdinand Exler, who had headed the company since January 2002.

Hannover – MTU Maintenance has signed a contract with Cathay Pacific for the maintenance of CF6 engines. The open-ended contract includes 15 CF6-50E2 engines powering Boeing 747-200Fs operated by the airline. The maintenance work will be performed at MTU Maintenance Hannover at Langenhagen.

Munich – The German Financial Reporting Enforcement Panel (FREP), which examines the financial statements of the majority of newly listed companies in Germany, has completed its examination of MTU Aero Engines Holding AG’s consolidated financial statements for the financial year 2005, pursuant to Section 342b (2) sentence 3 no. 3 of the German Commercial Code (random sample examinations). MTU has agreed to accept the results of this examination, following which the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has ordered their publication.

Ludwigsfelde - MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg will have a new president and chief executive officer when on February 1, 2007, Dr. Wolfgang Konrad takes the helm of the MRO specialist at Ludwigsfelde. Konrad, who holds a doctor's degree in mechanical engineering, succeeds André Wall, who after two years at Ludwigsfelde will accept an executive management position with Swiss-based Jet Aviation.

Ludwigsfelde, Germany - MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg has been awarded an agreement valued at approximately NKr 350 Mill. (appr. 42 Mill. €) to provide maintenance services for GE LM gas turbines used in offshore platforms in the North Sea and onshore facilities located in Norway. The sites are owned and operated by oil exploration companies STATOIL ASA, a Norwegian company based in Stavanger, Norway, Norsk Hydro Produksjon AS and Exxon Mobile Exploration and Production Norway AS.

Munich – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG continues on its positive growth trend: In the first nine months of 2006, the company’s revenues rose by 13% to €1,749.9 million (1-9/05: €1,545.6 million). The sector reporting the highest growth rate was once again commercial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). MTU’s pre-tax earnings have also improved significantly, with EBITDA¹ progressing from €166.6 million at end September 2005 to €224.7 million at end September 2006: a year-on-year increase of 35%. This increase is even more pronounced in the adjusted figures for net income², which has more than doubled in comparison to the same period last year, rising 148% to €87.7 million (1-9/05: €35.3 million).

Hannover – MTU Aero Engines keeps updating the PW6000 success story: on Tuesday, August 29, at MTU Maintenance Hannover in Germany's Langenhagen, the first PW6000 production engine was handed over to customer Pratt & Whitney in the presence of Lower Saxony's economics minister Walter Hirche. Witnessing the ceremony also were representatives of European aircraft maker Airbus.

Munich – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG in the first half year of 2006 enjoyed continued growth: sales rose 12% to € 1,148.5 million (1-6/05: € 1,025.7 million), the growth again being driven mostly by commercial maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The company posted appreciable gains in earnings: EBITDA¹ improved 39% to € 142.1 million (1-6/05: € 102.3 million). The profit surge was especially apparent in adjusted net income², which MTU in the first six months of the year more than tripled, from € 17.5 million in the first half-year 2005 to € 55.4 million.
 

Ludwigsfelde, Germany – MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg has just secured the largest CF34 repair contract in its history. Air Wisconsin Airlines Corporation will send all of the CF34-3B1 engines powering its fleet of 70 twin-engine Bombardier CRJ200 regional jets to Ludwigsfelde for repair and overhaul. The ten-year contract is worth about 240 million euros ($300 million).

Farnborough – MTU Aero Engines has become a risk- and revenue-sharing participant in General Electric Company’s F414 fighter engine program. This marks MTU’s first direct program participation in the U.S. military market. The contract signing ceremony was held on Monday, July 17, at the Farnborough International Airshow by MTU CEO Udo Stark, and by Russ Sparks, president of GE-Aviation  Military Engine Systems.

Munich – The new European technology program Newac (New Aero Engine Core Concepts) was launched recently under the lead of MTU Aero Engines. This new research program is backed by the EU under its 6th Research Framework Program and commands an overall budget of €71 million. Newac will run for four years and aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 6 per cent and NOx emissions by 17 per cent through improvements to the engine core.

Hannover – MTU Maintenance Hannover has secured a new customer when it recently inked a sole-source deal with the U.S.'s Gemini Air Cargo. The nine-year agreement, worth about 52 million euros, is for the repair and overhaul of 13 CF6-80C2 series engines. The first of the CF6-80C2s has already been received in Hannover. 

Munich – Light in weight, heat-resistant and affordable: for use in low-pressure and intermediate-pressure turbines, MTU Aero Engines has succeeded in developing LEK94, a material that is setting new benchmarks. "A material of this type was still missing in the current offerings of high-temperature materials. There're lots of pricey and heavy high-end materials around, but with their overwhelming temperature and strength capabilities they tend to be overgunned in some of the applications," explains Dr. Jörg Esslinger, who supervises materials engineering at MTU. The new lightweight has promptly found a prominent home in the low-pressure turbine of the GP7000 powering the Airbus A380.

Munich – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG in the first quarter of 2006 posted appreciable sales and profit gains, continuing the healthy trend of fiscal 2005. In the process, sales in the first three months of 2006 rose 10.8%, to € 564.8 million (1-3/05: € 509.7 million). Concurrently, operating profit¹ grew 21.1%, to € 66.6 million (1-3/05: € 55.0 million). The sharp jump in profit registered more clearly even after taxes, with MTU more than doubling adjusted net income² from € 11.2 million in the same quarter a year ago to € 25.7 million in the first three months of 2006. 

Munich – MTU Aero Engines Holding AG in 2005 stayed on its growth track. Fiscal 2005 sales rose 12 %, from 1,918.0 million € to 2,148.6 million €. This gain went hand in hand with an overproportional increase in operating profit¹ to 233 million €, up by 35 % over the year before (2004: 172.2 million €). The cash flow from operational activities nearly quadrupled, from 72.9 million € to 290.1 million €.

Munich – Upon a proposal by the holding, the Munich register court has named Louis R. Hughes (56) to the supervisory board of MTU Aero Engines Holding AG, effective January 30, 2006. 

Munich – Private equity investor Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) has sold the 29.3 percent share it still held after MTU Aero Engines Holding AG went public. The stock went to various institutional investors. KKR informed MTU of this move on January 31, 2006.

Ludwigsfelde – Effective immediately, MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg is free to repair General Electric CF34-8 engines. On Monday, January 30, 2006, the German Federal Office of Civil Aeronautics granted EASA approval and also FAA approval. This adds a new dimension to operations at the Ludwigsfelde company. There are over 750 CF34-8 engines in revenue service. 1,500 more have been ordered or orders are expected to be firmed up - by 2014, the total order will be around 2,700. This makes this version of the CF34 the fastest growing of the CF34 family. The repair work will be worth about one billion euros globally over the next eight years.
